What's your overall opinion of the Federal Fusion bullet? Accuracy and performance as a hunting bullet.

Haven't killed anything with them but they have been very accurate in everything I shot them in

They're accurate in my 6.5 CM and I've used them to take several cow elk, no issues. All the broadside shots have been pass throughs. They work.

Best bullet out there for the measly.243. Have yet to recover one but exit holes say they perform as advertised. If I didn’t have a bunch of other ammo already for my.280 I would shoot them out of it too.

Like to find some ot6 in the 165. Aint never tried them and they been on the market for years. Have looked at em numerous times. Been shooting barnes 168 vortex. But in this day and age. I need to squirrel away some more available loadings and see how they shoot also.

I’ve killed elk and deer with them. Never recovered one. I’d say that’s decent performance considering all we’re DRT. Not a huge amount of critters but enough to make me a believer. The best part is Walmart now carries them as component bullets in a decent amount of calibers and weights.

Great factory ammo. Works well in just about every iteration.
It’s expensive now. Probably costs more than it should. There’s lots of stuff out there that costs less that does just as well or better.
That being said, you know you’re OK when Federal Fusion is up the spout.
What could be a sadder way to end a life than to die having never hunted with great dogs, good friends and your family?

Thanks for the input. I've been loading at buying and reloading some Fusion bullets for my 243. Midway has a pretty good selection of calibers and weights.

Have had good luck with the 95gr .243 Win version on about 10 deer. Doesn't always leave a great blood trail, but have only had one go more than 30yds and that was due solely to shot placement.

I shot a couple of small blacktails last week with 120gr Fusions out of my 6.5 Grendel. The first one was at 315yds with a half dollar sized entry wound and no exit. Took off the top of the heart and bottom of lungs, flopped it right over. The second was from about 50ft with a pencil entrance and a baseball sized exit through the neck. I was kinda surprised at both of them to be honest, especially the one at 315. I thought it would have gone right through.

Nothing but success for us, started with the 223 62gr for the kids, never lost a deer, never had one go over maybe 75 yards. My only somewhat complaint is I've never had them shoot tight groups compared to other factory loads out there, especially not my handloads. I've tried them in 223, 708, 308, 260 and 6.5.

They are my favorite of the cheaper cup and core type factory loads. I prefer my hand loaded Partitions in most of my rifles, but Fusions work well for the money.

The 165gr 308 load shoots like match ammo in an R700 I have and the bullets seem to do the job also. For the price and performance, I haven't bothered loading for a few guns, just bought a few boxes of Fusion that will last me a while.
