I don't borrow anything I can't afford to replace, and I don't loan anything I can't afford to replace or live without. Also, I try not to lend unless the borrower can afford to replace it if they break it.

I have one friend i d lend to,but he s rarely asked.i lent my Miller Commercial weight belt to a friend,i told him to NEVER leave stuff on the jobsite in N.YC. Ever, stupid ass doesn t feel like carrying the 47lbs. Belt to his car everyday, leaves it in the trailer, trailer gets broken into, they steal the belt for the brass buckle and lead scrap.he s sorry, but of course its not HIS fault,he promises to replace my $400.00 belt, still waiting....... Moron had the BALLS to try and borrow a diving helmet and set up for his nephew a year later,"where's the weight belt you said you d replace?" I told him to not come back without one brand new Miller weight belt, cost the friendship, have not seen or heard from him in 10 years.

I was taught that it was best not to borrow things or to lend my things out. That's a good lesson for sure.

I don't really understand the mentality of borrowing other people's stuff. I don't like being responsible for it. I'm far more comfortable being responsible for my own stuff, and I prefer it when others are responsible for their stuff. I've had a sort of borrowing relationship with one neighbor in the past, and within my family, but it's a rarity.
I watch people with their own stuff, and they way they mistreat and abuse it, and I want no part in letting them have access to my stuff.

I've loaned and borrowed. My neighbors can borrow anything I have except for a 1 trailer and 1 tractor otherwise it's up for borrowing.

Depends on the neighbor. I have two neighbors for whom I will loan without hesitation, and will loan to me likewise. Need a hand? Just call and they are tight over, ad I am with them.
I have good neighbors, and try to be one.

I don't leave anything at the hunting camp. If i left a ball bearing and a rubber mallet, I would return to find a pancake. Clyde

Only loan things that can't be torn up, hammers, splitting maul, heavy steel t-post drivers etc, etc. Brother, if you think them things can't be tore up, you have neighbors entirely different from mine. lolol Brother in laws are pretty good about tearing stuff up as well.

My buds and I borrow each other chit all the time, no worries at all. Sometimes you need to bust balls but that is all in good fun and to get your stuff back. Got to help each other out and if they don't return have balls enough to tell em to bring it back. No problem

Neighbor says, Hey can I borrow a long tape measure? Sure. No problem. Few days later, Hey, where's my tape? Oh, I put it back in your trailer. (work trailer). Nope, not there. Wife spots it leaning against this wood pile a few days later. I ask again. I specifically remember putting it back in your trailer. No, it's leaning against your woodpile. Huh, I thought I put it back. In my best Bristoe, "Harrumph" He does bring the Bobcat back after using it, which is nice. Chainsaws and bobcats are a "no can do."

I loan anything except money with a few exceptions for some individuals. It's just stuff, stores are full of new and better stuff. I will give folks money but I've learned how a financial loan works out.
