Sot very well i my 30-30, first time I got a 1/2" group @50. Well it was a big deal to me. I found where to buy the sabots to make my own, had a devil of a time fingering how to make them precise. Figured it out finally but quit seeing how 223s were easy to come by. Still have a bunch of sabots and a while back checked to see if you can still buy them, gotten a bit spendy but they are available.

Yeah when you can pick up a new Savage Axis on sale for $200. The accelerators aren't worth messing with.

The point about sabots is you can get much higher velocity than with conventional ammo of the same caliber. The military does this with artillery. But you probably have to change the twist rate and use (or develop) different powder. Remington never did this. IIRC they just wanted to shoot .223 bullets, at .223 velocities, in existing 30-06 and 30-30 rifles. There wasn't much of a market for this.

As usual, Remington marketing people screwed it up.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

IIRC the 30-06 Accelerators where kicking a 55gr at somewhere around 4000fps and the 308 at around 3800fps. I don't recall the 30-30 numbers.

The 30-06 Remington accelerators were over 4,000+ FPS with a 55 grain bullet.

No, not exactly. The Accelerator ammo was produced until at least 2000 in .30-30 and .30-06--though a .308 Winchester load was also introduced and dropped by then. The .30-06 Accelerator load pushed 55-grain bullets faster than .220 Swift velocities, advertised at 4080 fps. They also produced some more fairly recently, as it's still on the MidwayUSA website listed as "new production," though it has since been discontinued, probably due to Remington's other problems, the result of being owned by a holding company, resulting in the recent backruptcy sale.
