Took a yohng man bow hunting this morning . Never hunted a day in his life . 15 yrs old , picked him up at 5:15 , he was up and ready, a big plus these days , put him in a two man stand with me at 5:45 this morning . 7:30 spotted a buck coming in a creek bottom , had ranged some trees and held up the hand signals to let him know how to hold . He squeezed the trigger and it bounded off , ran about 75 yds and hit the ground kicking . He was shaking like a leaf , we climbed down , found bolt and blood was sprayed knee high . Blood trail was great with lots of spraying , so I was sure it was a heart shot . We got to it , six pointer with about a 15”-16” spread , nice buck for first time out . He gutted without gagging and when he removed the heart there was a big gash in it . Stopped by his grandma’s on the way out , she was some kind of proud of him . His mom and dad was too . Dad is in Middle East , he really liked the pics . He is now looking forward to ML season . Looks like he is going to be a future hunter . We talked a week ago coming home from dinner , he is highly knowledgeable about computers and a gamer . Was shockingly aware of the need for upholding the constitution and how wrong antifa and blm Is and their funding and purpose . Never expected to be having this kind of conversation with him . Definitely won my respect . Kenneth
Well done Kenneth66!! That's an outstanding story and day that you'll both be able to treasure for the rest of your days. An archery heart shot is like winning the World Series so make sure to tell him "Great Job!" from us!!
Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21. Drum roll please...... "I don't know, to be clear." and THAT is one promise he's kept!!!
7 on that , he is a humble young man . He will do well in life I believe . Doesn’t seem to have the hold my beer thing going on , dam if I didn’t waste a pile of life with that dumb shiet Kenneth
Super cool man good on you we all need to seek after these opportunities!
Whoa that’s quite the buck very very nice work!
I just got home from scouting with a young man from a non-hunting family. We’ll be firearm hunting end of next month and we built blinds and talked strategy he is beside himself excited.
Love it.. thanks for posting Kenneth. Yup sounds like a great kid, everyone seems to be drawn to the negative these days but there's lots of good young folks out there as this young fellow is definitely one of them. Good on you for showing him the ropes
I give a major thumbs up to you for helping out that kid. Some great memories made. He'll never forget that day and neither will you. Contrary to what some folks think, we still have a lot of good solid kids amongst us. I too, thank you personally for helping out one of 'em.
You using Bins 2mb stuff??? That is a very frustrating system....
Try postimages or imgur. Easy once you get it down with some practice 2nd nature ..
Another member started a thread 2 or 3 days ago. Got some coaching on here. Took him bout an hour to get it down pat. You dont have to start an account on post image to use it Dont know about imgur.
You can start a account if ya wanta create albums.
Good luck to you and the young fellow efw . And thanks for all the kind words from all . We kind of threw this together on a whim . We made the plans earlier in the week but my work schedule and his school schedule did not allow us time to prep at all . His ability to follow instructions was the only practice we had . I explained to him what each dot was for range wise , hosed us both down with scent killer , explained tree stand safety to him , how to operate safety without clicking it , cocked It on ground , pulled it up , loaded it for him and handed it to him Showed him the hand signals , he followed to a tee from releasing safety to gutting and dragging deer . After he gutted it , I pointed to a draw across the creek that opened into a field , told him get it to there and I was walking out to get the truck . When I returned he was were he was supposed to be with a perma grin . Lol , I do believe I am as happy about it as he is . Kenwth
Thanks again fellows , we had discussed hunting one time two yrs ago but I think maybe his mom thought ha was too young , she is very strict on him and his sister . His mom is my Daughter-in-law and the children are my grandchildren by marriage . As I have gotten to know this family they have instilled the presence of great inner strength to me and the kids have the discipline and ability to follow instructions to a tee . I tried to cover the details if safety and dos and donts of hunting to the fullest I could . He forgot nothing and executed perfectly . This Thursday we are going to spend time with hands on firearm safety and shooting a 22 at various field positions at 25 yds for basics and then move to 100 yds . Friday evening we will put him behind a ZmL for the first time and I will keep him with me for probably the season . Kenneth
