18 years ago my wife (now ex) took up golf. She started hanging out at the local golf course all the time, divorced me 3 years later, then moved in with the guy who owned the golf course. Last I heard, she married him - guess she liked golf so much she wanted to own a golf course I've golfed a few times many years ago - really liked it but felt I had too many other irons in the fire to pursue it. The thought of it now tends to bring back bad memories... I can believe that. It seems all the bars and club houses at schitt golf courses are filled with wives looking for another Driver.

Hi deflave, I really enjoy golf too. 1995 to 2016 I was in at least two summer leagues. Don’t play as much now as me and the usual suspects are all busy with school age kids.
Towards the end I felt like I finally had my equipment dialed in to my skill set. Had my handicap whittled down to a 7. Doubt I could play anywhere near that today.
Wonderful, challenging past time...wishing you many memorable rounds.

I figured out I can cuss and drink beer without paying green fees. Win/win Golf’s only redeeming quality is that you get to drive a tiny car around while cussing and drinking beer. If you walk the course you’re doing it wrong. I love cussing and drinking so it's a pretty natural fit. Although I will say that when I want to make somebody feel bad about themselves I golf sober.

It’s as bad a money suck as guns.
It’ll be fun once you realize that you’re never going to be any good at it. I haven't found it to be very expensive.

When I get ahold of one watch out!
I prefer my 7 and 9 irons. I can chuck a ball with my 5 iron.

If i play my slice I’m doing good. Putting meh. Can’t drive off the tee to save my life. I had nobody to really help me get started but I do have a friend around Chicago that's exceptionally good and plays all the time. I asked him which club to start with, he recommended the nine iron. Once I got that down at the driving range I moved all the way up to the four and played only irons for about a month. LOL I actually think I benefited from that because I was only learning one type of swing and then slowly incorporating other clubs. But I still suck.

The only time I gulfed was in kollege.
I lived next to a gulf coarse.
We ( my buds and I) had accluaated , akquired a few klubs, I think we stole 'em.
We would hoof it onto said coarse with the clubs. No gulf balls. We then would play every ball we came across . We would play to the farthest flag we could see.
Yass, it was trememendoos fun.
My only other gulfing experience was when I would shoot a ball "T'd" up at the moment of strike from the other side of the V River, with my .22-250.
I see how one can be attracted to the game.

My folks enjoyed golf and introduced me to the game. Never could do anything with a driver except slice it. Oddly enough I could storm the castle with irons. Long time back a PGA tour wanker named Lee Trevino got sparked by a lightning bolt while playing. He said “Not even God can hit a 1 iron”. I could out drive my old man with a 1 iron such that it weirded him out a little. The game did not excite me much. Mom wound up as President of the Florida Woman’s Golf Assn for a spell. I went to Nam and blew stuff up.
Different strokes for different folks they used to say.
I am..........disturbed.

I have played some. Good way to kill time.
Walking puts some exercise into the game...uh, sport.
Doesn't matter if it is a +3 or an 18 handicap talking, it all sounds the same at the 19th hole...I find that interesting.
