Stopped my Gunsmiths shop Thursday to get some small pistol primers, was going through his shelf of wares, there lay a bag of Starline brass, I picked it up, low and behold, it was 100 factory primed 38 Super brass cases, yesterday morning I hit the case mouths with a VLD tool, made sure the primers were fully seated, then set 100 of the 125 grain Barnes copper buzzsaws over 7 grains Lonshot powder, COL 1.250 inch, it's a great shooting accurate load in my LW Commander 38 Super.

IIRC load runs around 1300 fps.

Very interesting cartridge. Mines a 5” Colt that thinks it’s a target pistol. Really it’s a ten shot 357

I didn't realize Starline factory primed cases?

The 38 Super is a dandy cartridge.

You bet Frank, my little LW Commander is more accurate than it should be for a stock Colt 1911, it has been highly dependable, never a FTF/FTE, I carry it with 10 round Tripp mags with complete confidence.

Hawk, it's a very old bag of brass, it was 18 bucks out the door grin, could have swore it was sealed, that said, factory or done by someone who never got around to loading them, I did make sure the primers were fully seated, shot 5 rounds for fit/function, all good.

Nice pistol Fireball.

I have a 38 Super in a S&W performance center 8 shot revolver & it also shoots very well with Longshot. Fast becoming one of my favorite powders. Would like to find a 1911 Super to go along with it.

It's a great round Dick, oddly enough, for the performance you get, recoil is nil, even in my LW Commander, bet that S&WPC revolver is a nail driver.

Rock Island makes a 1911 in .38 super. They are good guns for the money. I have one and it is quite accurate and dependable so far. Have about 1200 rds thru it with no troubles.
