I was minding my own business chasin guns late last week over east aways and came across what I think is a "fair" deal, not a screaming GOOD deal, but a fair deal on a Marlin 39A. This Rifle was described on the hang tag as being a "1960" year of manufacture. The Rifle itself was in near mint condition! The ONLY flaw I could see on the rifle was a "scuff" in the finish (not through the finish!) on the left side of the pistol grip. The buttplate was fully intact and fit very nicely to the stock. The metal finish was VERY nice with no wear or scratches I could find - including the muzzle being 100% blued! The barrel had NO bulges in it as that is one of the first factors I check for in 60+ year old rimfires. The sights appeared to be correct and without damage at all - there was NO sight hood on the front sight. The asking price for this cool Rifle was $799.00 (no sales tax in Montana). I have spent over $3,500.00 at this particular shop in the last 3 weeks including $700.00 the recent day I was at the shop - once the "big Eagle" comes at the end of the month I may return and be a player for this Rifle myself - if the Rifle is still there. This Rifle is newly out on the rack as it was not there on my previous visit about 10 days ago. Anyone interested can call the shop Mondays through Saturdays at 406-682-4210. I forgot to ask if this Rifle was on consignment or owned by the shop so a cash offer may better this deal? I do know I was impressed by the deep dark color of the bluing on the action - I checked for signs of polishing and re-bluing on the action and found none at all. This Rifle/model does have the sling swivels. I consider it collector quality. Hope this may help someone fill a need/niche. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

That sounds like a great deal.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally
