My stock TC Encore .45-70 barrel (24" with open sights) has been a good shooter. Wanted the Katahdin version but I went the cheaper route. No issues.

After something like 60 rounds, using XTP Mag bullets instead of XTP bullets, and replacing the Leupold 2 x7 scope( objective lens elements separated) with a similar Burris I had on hand I just might be working the wrinkles of out this .460 barrel. It doesn't kick any less, but I put three rounds into 1 1/2" at 100 yds tonight.

Some more fiddling might shrink that group a bit but it is better than the 3-4 inch groups the 77/44 .44 magnum does at 100 yds., and Michigan deer season opens in 3 weeks. I'm going to stick with the 49 gr CFE BLK and 300 gr XTP Mag load for the time being.
