Few wood dings, metal looks good.
Junk Redfield.
Dunno what these things typically fetch.
Feels way light.
Kinda cool

I don't need it but man it's lightweight, thought an M8 in 4 or 6x would be sweet atop.

Sako Foresters go for roughly around $1300, give or take a few hundred depending on condition and which particular version (usually, the older the version, the higher the price). This price estimate for a private seller. The "Deluxe" models will go for more. Full stock (aka "Mannlicher") models fetch a premium, too. But, sellers can be shockingly proud on really nice ones. Note there is a sporter barrel version and a heavy barrel version, called "Varminter." An older "Deluxe" model in fine condition can see asking prices upwards of $2500. The original vintage Sako scope rings are very cool, pricey (~$150) , and windage adjustable. The Finns certainly know how to make a rifle. Probably a consequence of being wedge all-by-yourself between Russia and the Artic Ocean.

wow... you need to come out east for prices on Sako's... nothing near that type of money... plain foresters 95% will only bring 800-900 and deluxes 1250 if you are very lucky in the south east

I texted the manager. Told him id xome get it.
The Redfield scope is proly a lost cause.
Has the rings, no aux rear sight. Front missing hood.

My bud has a pre 74 leupold 2-7x w the leupold version of german crosshair. Id like a scope like that to put on top.

The rings on this say " spain " underneath.
They look like the others Ive seen on the web.
The rear has the recoil stop.

Prettt good dings in. The wood 3 or 4.
Still a classy rifle.

Sako - I did a quick review of completed Gunbroker auctions on Sako Foresters. I think your general price estimate is better than mine. Based on my review, I'd change my general estimate from "$1300" to "$1000". Still lot'sa price variability depending on the which Forester from which era, though.

Awesome rifles. Wouldn’t let a few dings bother me if I wanted it for hunting. Not many, if any made with the quality of older Sakos these days.

Sounds like pretty typical condition for an older Sako. Unless, there is some undisclosed problem, under $500 was certainly a good deal. And, a lot of them are missing the front hood. The hood is easy to remove, so, hard to say if it fell off or was intentionally removed when the gun was scoped. New/used ones can be found if you want to replace it.

Am not a collector. I just kill stuff.
Like rifles. Figuree under 500 might as well try my first Sako.

The old Redfield has junk under rear lens ( appears to be, no pun intended ).

If I was still in the lab could attempt repair.

Well the Redfield is off.
Pretty clean exterior.
Too bad its hazed inside. Wonder if worth messing with.

Scope rings, witness mark to orient upper w lower.
Not concentric until i flipped one upper half LOL.

One of the rings spring rods is stuck in. Got one of em to pop out and cleaned up. Will soak lower in Kroil to see if I can get other free. Works without but Id like it operational.

Shellack on bolt removed. Whiteline spacers have shrunk.
Will yank and just go without.

Scrub the bore tomorrow. Gun had sat a long time.

Kroil got the stuck pin to come out.
Proly dump these rings and go Leupold.

Need a decent M8 to put on top. The old Redfield that came with, is hazy. Proly not worth fixing.

Mo money mo money........it never ends LOL

Give us a peek sometime.I have an early 60s version in high 90s condition. The hoods are the first to go,shadows the scope picture.Rear sight is a peep but they way overpriced IMHO.I still wouldn't mind having one.Doesn't feel much heavier than my Finnlight and shoots better than I do.

Sorry,I drank the Sako-Aid.My opinion may be biased.

I ran two M8s on mine, one a 7.5x non an, another a 8x36 non-ao.

The 7.5 was PERFECT for MY Forester 243.........Used Sako low rings IIRC.
