I can’t answer your questions, but I ordered a EMF GW 2 in 45 colt. It was “The Shootist” model. Still waiting on it to arrive. I will post what my opinion is.

I come within a hairsbreadth of ordering the same Revolver ,very good looking revolver. Changed my mind at the last minute to the Convertible for a tad more versatility.

Well apparently you and I WILL be the only ones on 24 hour Campfire that Have an E.M.F. GW II 45 Colt !! Judging from the Lack of Responses anyway !! LOL
Well one thing about it when we get ours then we can share our experiences about the Pistols with others.
I had an EMF Hartford model once upon a time. A good gun, it had been sorely used by an outfitter in Colorado and really looked like a 1st gen. Colt without artificial aging. If the Great Western II is anything like that, it will serve you well. Best wishes upon your endeavor and please post pics.

Not the greatest picture, but I really do like the pistol so far. Just got to shoot it at the house a few rounds. Seems to be a pretty well built pistol. I will hopefully get to the range for a more extended shoot.
Don't know if this thread is still going, but, I bought the EMF GW II in .45 Colt. Only difference from the one pictured above is mine has the brass frame. Came with the .45 acp cylinder also. A great operating and shooting SA. Just bought another, only an Uberti Taylor tuned "Old Randall", this one has a matte type finish and 5.5" barrel. Pick it up Mon, 11/23. More fun.
Somebody gave John Wayne an original Great Western...possibly a pair of them, but my memory fails me on that score. He used it/them in The Shootist.
There's a picture of that on the EMF co. website regarding the Great Western. Guys name is Bill Wilson. Could have been the owner of "Great Western Arms Co." back in the day.
