We had a school chili. It was awesome
Big 3/4” thick slab of govt cheese on the side, a slice o white bread
And a fresh baked cinnamon roll

Real govt cheese or that Velveeta looking stuff?

I'll tell you what is some nasty canned chili: that is H.E.B. store brand chili with beans. I like H.E.B. products, but dang, that chili is just nasty. Mixed it with rice, added chopped onion, jalapeno, hot sauce, and shredded cheese just to barely make it edible. I bought a couple cans of it to have on hand a couple of months ago as it was on the clearance shelf. That good deal was not so much. Now I know why they discontinued it. Sure makes you appreciate a good home made batch.

I have canned my own Chili. I make it with quality ingredients. AMEN only way to go. Been doing it for years.

Not having any canning skills - yet - I'll make a homemade batch and freeze portions. It's the times I run out that I'd like a supply of canned.
