I had a 1911 purge some years ago & got rid of several, but If I was a serious 1911 packer I'd have another Les Baer. Otherwise, I really enjoy & trust my twin pre series II Kimber LE's.

This one is pretty decent. Doubt I will buy any fancier ones, as it shoots pretty tight little groups and is super reliable. Never seen a customized summer special before. I also noticed the Colt style thumb safety on your Les Baer that's interesting.

Army issue that I toted around Nam. Never missed, not once. My grandfather's gift to me when I was 16..Got special permission from my Squadron CO to fly with it in SEA. I have Glocks and a vintage Colt CC but this one will always be close to heart for so many reasons.. Dang, that is a early version of a improved 1911. that beaver tail is homemade. And pre Bomar micro sights I think.

My favorite is in line for being built.....getting what I want. Commander slide on an Alloy Officers frame. Pardon my ignorance, but I have a couple of questions: 1) Who is building your 1911? 2) why not a Commander slide on an Alloy Commander frame? CT Brian is the builder. I have a SS Colt Model 80 Officers of his now. Most expensive gun I ever bought. X3. When I shot it I ordered my first ever custom pistol the next day. I like the shorter frame of the Officers. Alloy is okay on the Commander’s slide. Have a Kimber Ultra Carry and short barrel with light frame is jumpier than I like. Not recoil sensitive ......shoot a John Linebaugh 475 ......just a bit jumpy....so the longer barrel. Slide is easier to wear than frame for carry

Yes it is very early, a friend's father did the renovation for me before shipping out to Vietnam I requested the custom beaver tail mainly for my Sasquatch hands ..We had an aft weapons locker in our aircraft with M16 & M14's however the leftover crappy Korean War vintage S&W Mod 12's were not something any of us thought we could depend on if we got bagged and had to fight it out on the ground until the SAR cavalry arrived.

Dads 1911 from WW2 had been carried by a doctor friend in WW1 was stolen when my parents moved..... You are so lucky to have yours.

Black DW Valor gov. size 45 +1 on the Valor . . . several Ed Brown parts at half the price of an Ed Brown. IMO, one of the best value's on the market. Nevertheless, this Ed Brown Executive Target is on my bucket list.

If I had a Ed Brown Kobra Carry bob tail......I might start a thread like this too. I miss my stainless Kimber Carry and now understand better the whole Model 70 - model 80 Schwartz thing but .... still find my Sig two-tone attractive after a new thin set of grips rather decent looking.

I'm a pansy regarding pistol recoil. As such, I embraced the "V" series Springfields. I have the V-10 ultra-compact (single and double-stack), V-12 full-size, and V-16 long-slide. They're a far cry from most that are pictured here, but, they're what I'm comfortable shooting....
