January 14, 2021 AHA Statement on Political Giving Practices Following Tragic Events at U.S. Capitol The AHA Board of Trustees today approved the following statement on AHA’s political giving practices. “The tragic events last week at the U.S. Capitol were an assault on our democracy. This prompted the AHA to begin an immediate review of our political giving practices to ensure they are guided by our Association’s vision and mission, as well as the democratic values we share as a nation. “AHA’s political contributions are made under the authority of the AHA Board of Trustees in consultation with our Political Action Committee Steering Committee, state hospital association partners, and hospital and health system leaders from lawmakers’ states and districts. “Our decision process evaluates each candidate individually based on a broad set of factors. After conversations with the groups mentioned above, we have decided that for individuals who voted against accepting the results of the Electoral College, we will immediately suspend political contributions. “Hospitals and health systems have a special role to play as community leaders, healers and caregivers for our patients and the wider communities we serve. As we said last week, now is the time for our country to come together and begin the healing process.”

Blah, Blah, Blah Thus pontificate the high level fat cats who grab almost all of their operating income and personal profit from one form of government finding or another - including the current rip offs through classification of all sorts of death causes as "Covid 19". These hypocrites are telling the world that they are going to further play politics and feather their nests. No respect for this behavior.

Who was not surprised by that statement?
They should not be in the political business at all.
Save that money for the sick folks that they are fleecing every day.

Why the fug are hospitals giving campaign donations anyway? They shouldn't be allowed to. In fact, I'd go as far as to say no corporation should be allowed to make any contributions. Actually, I'll go even further and say no political contributions should be allowed. Every candidate should get the same level of resources and with modern technology(youtube, twitter, Facebook, etc.) it should easily be possible. Money has completely corrupted our political system.

READ THE HEADLINE. It is the AHA (American Hospital Association) giving the contributions. Hospitals belong to the AHA but that doesn't mean they agree with everything the AHA does any more than NRA members agree with everything the NRA does.

What do you think is the source of all these funds given by the AHA. The hospitals and related businesses are the members and put the money in. It is just like any other trade association.

They keep poking the bear. The bear's dead, it aint going to do anything. If weren't dead it would have already bit someone.
Imagine a corporate oligarchy so effective, so advanced and fine tuned that its citizens still call it a democracy.

It is no so much that they are givers. They really are buyers of influence so the can get legislation that serves them. They have their own PAC for [bleep]. Further everyone here knows that the US medical system is all about the benjamins. Ever here the term customer service. Sure they banty about patient experience but they suck. They hated trump because the "no suprise billing push" . What other financial transactions do americans enter into to that are as large as these without knowing what it will cost up front?

The aha represents over 1000 for profit hospitals. Hospitals owned by corporations like hca, chs, and lifepoint are all for profit. They are all huge donors. They have as much right to donate as any other industry like for instance big oil who get billions in corporate welfare. Up until this point the aha was giving money to politicians to fight Medicare for all . In other words, they were pumping money into Republican campaigns. With things like Medicare for all, the aca, Medicaid, Medicare, HIPAA, and other regulations, they are heavily invested in politics.

Are people unaware that healthcare is controlled by a handful of quasi-government organizations? They lobbied government and eliminated competition to enrich themselves. The shortage of doctors is as artificial as the price of diamonds.
With progressives running them, you're screwed.

The shortage of doctors is as artificial as the price of diamonds. How's that the case?
