I have a couple of boxes for the 257 Roberts. IIRC they are 117gr and possibly some 180's fpr a 300 H&H. I'll have to give them a try.

I buy them every time I see them.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

I remember using these on deer 35 years ago but all I remember was dead critters. Are they a good stout bullet or explosive or somewhere in between? I’m going to load some to test on hogs and see how they shake out. Oh man! I’d run em! I know they knock deer and bear down just fine! Plus, they just look cool! Those just make me wanna load em in the old 06 and take to the woods myself! You and me both. The closest thing I have is my 180gr powerpoints. My fwt loves them though...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I tried them in 30-06 150 grain and in 270 130 grain and they were REALLY awful. Complete explosive blow-ups on deer. I killed 2 deer with my 270 and 2 deer with the 30-06 and all 4 showed extreme fragmentation the likes of which I have never seen with any other bullets. I killed one deer with the 270 at about 300 yards and one at about 200, and the 2 deer I killed with the 30-06s were both at about 250.
But with the 30-30 in 170 grain and in the 300 grain 375H&H I had pretty good luck with them.
In all cases you get the aluminum nose fragmenting, but in the 30-30 I had good kills with exits on deer and the 375 did the same on elk and bear.
I believe the jacket is fairly thick on the 375 but that's just a guess, and the 30-30 kills were at around 75 and 140 yards and the bullet are blow enough to not blow up so suddenly as they were with the 30-06s and the 270s, maybe because they were going pretty slow at impact. Maybe is you loaded them in a 308 or a 300 savage they would not shatter, but I can't say for certain. I never shot anything with a silvertip 30 cal in the 180 grain weight. The ones I shot were always very accurate and in one of my 270s, the 130 gr STs were REALLY accurate. Just sucked on larger game, but for shooting rock-chucks and jack rabbits they were really cool.

I used them for years with good results in 30 caliber for Wisconsin deer. Never had any trouble but also do not recall any recovered bullets to look at.
