I’m interested in if and why there are Marines in DC and what that means factually. Does the presence of Marines or any ‘regular’ branch automatically mean that martial law is in force? I believe DC is under martial law currently so the presence of Marines wouldn’t be crazy. I’ll admit to not understanding the nuances of the legal and Constitutional position that DC occupies.

Trump has DC under Emergency Declaration til the 23rd? FEMA is present. I suspect he will declare martial law or similar in DC within a couple days. The troop build-up there has been directed / sanctioned by the current CiC.
