Usage is ground squirrel shooting from a bench. Prefer mounting rings directly on to the CZ 527 varmint action. Have 34mm tube Minox scope but looks like no one is making 34mm rings for the 527. Scope choice is limited to 30mm or 1" tube.

Looking for a variable power scope, at least 20X power with good optic. Mil dot or improved reticle. Will be dialing for elevation and hold over for wind most of the time. Saw a NF 8-32x56 at sportsman, like it but the 56mm front lens is huge. Not sure it will clear the barrel or the eye piece will clear the bolt handle. Any scope with similar or better optical quality but with 50mm objective lens?

Thanks

Bolt lift clearing the ocular bell would be my concern. I suspect the CZ rings are high enough that a 56mm OB will fit but its likely not necessary. How about a VX6-HD with top power in the 18-24 range? Great optics and easy to dial with good RTZ.

Just looked and the 4-24 power scopes are 34mm so that puts you back with the 3-18x44 which is a great scope. There are lots of other brands too.

I got a call from James Calhoon last week indicating they are gearing up for another run of their special rings for CZ rifles. Might want to call them to see what they have as options. 406-265-1655

Thanks for the recommendation. Will take a look at VX6HD 3-18 in store. It does make a nice bench and walking varmint rifle. Have a VX6 1-6 that is excellent on the CZ 527 X39 carbine.

Would love to try a 24X or higher magnification scope for those little ground squirrels at distance. I am intrigued by the NF NX8 4-32x50, 30mm tube. Wonder how it compares to the NXS 8-32x56 optically at 24X or 32X.

Talked to Warne about 34mm rings for the 527, no plan...34mm rings would open up to a world of excellent optics.

Never saw one. The green center dot seems a little big. Prefer thin hair or open center for varmint.
I thought newer CZ 527s already have bent bolt handle. If there is a better bolt handle, I am definitely interested in it. Thanks

Don't some of the beefier 30 mm rings have enough material to open them up to 34 mm?

Badger and Seekins make 34mm rings but it is not clear on the base spacing, on Badger if you search for CZ the rings are shown. I believe it is a 19mm spacing on the center fires and 11 mm on the rim fires, check though.

I have a Leuopold VX34.5-14x40, 30mm tube on one. Warne rings, if I recall correctly.
