These CLUELESS Fhuqking Retards are a HOOT! Hint.

It is fast/cheap to have a seamless thread protector made and the Drooling OP,would NEVER know the fhuqking difference. Hint.....................

Nice gesture. Good on you.

Yes they hide the Montana The only way I could find them was going into the WSM action choices. Made me think they dropped them too.

On the Rifles page on Kimber's site, they are in the Mountain category.

Here's a recent thread on the Hunter model. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...unter-and-chopping-it-to-18#Post15543388

Does the 270 normally come in 24" and I just never noticed this? Anyone with the .270 having accuracy issues?

Rather than shorten and crown the barrel, I had a gunsmith turn down the knurled knob to barrel diameter, but kept the full length.

As stated the Montana has not been discontinued. There was a brief period a while back when they had temporarily removed it from the website. I don’t remember the reason but I’m thinking it was due to the move?

As far as options go the OP can either buy a hunter (243/708) without a threaded barrel and try to find a Montana stock or buy a Montana (708) and cut/crown or turn down the thread protector. If he wants 22” 270 the only option is to chop it.

Thanks Captain Obvious.

So you don't know the answers to any of my questions despite you being the Kimber man?

Being a dick head won’t get you answers. A bit of research will. Kimber MT is threaded. Kimber Hunter isn’t.

Rather than shorten and crown the barrel, I had a gunsmith turn down the knurled knob to barrel diameter, but kept the full length.

One thing I forgot to mention is that my Kimber did not have common industry-standard muzzle threading; thus the gunsmith had to make a mandrel specific to the Kimber, which added to cost. Rather than look out for the customer first, it seems Kimber wants to limit you to their proprietary brakes and such.

or......

The rifle is built to be light, and the barrel is too thin to take a normal 5/8x24 thread, you might get the threads on there, but you will have no shoulder for your muzzle device to butt up against.

Kimber sells adapters for cheap if you want to run a can, if you want a brake, they also sell a nice low profile brake that matches up beautifully with their barrels, same diameter, same finish. I've used both with great success.

IF you want to get crazy you can have it cut and rethreaded 1/2x28 but you will still need an adapter to run a 30cal can on it. Oh yeah I did that too.

lots of easy options... That all work great on a lightweight rifle with a pencil barrel.

or if you don't like it threaded. get you a hacksaw and this kit from brownells: https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-...its/brass-one-caliber-set-prod18282.aspx

get some different pilots and you will never pay for a crown job again...
