Just before this dry up hit, Walmart had CCI Standard Velocity on sale for $3.96 a box. I bought out 3 Walmart's, of ten boxes each, and that was it, they never restocked.
I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

bsa1917hunter: I beg to differ with your blanket condemnation of current gun prices! The prices being PAID are NOT "f'ing stupid" nor are they "ridiculous" like you try to claim - they ARE reality! You may "think" they are to high or "f'ing stupid" or "ridiculous" but no matter what YOU think you have to realize "reality" when it confronts you - to do anything less is, well, stupid! In about a year and a half (when I reach age 75) I am going to start selling off an extensive Winchester Collection (mostly pre-64 Model 70's) along with many Colt pistols, Smith & Wesson collectible revolvers, Kimber of Oregon unfired N.I.B Rifles along with a horde of Varmint Rifles by Winchester, Remington, Kimber of New York, Browning, Ruger, Weatherby and others. My thoughts are, this new "reality" has motivated me to start to "cash in" on my long term investments. My advice to you is to accept and put to use this new reality. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

That's completely nuts!!!!! Would take the joy out of shooting bigtime!!! At the current bid with shipping (not including tax) that's $5.85 a round. That's like going to a movie theatre, paying admission and paying $25 for a bag of popcorn. No ammo is worth that much (last ditch defense only). If I had a 260 rifle and ammo was nonexistent or hard to find, it would be a safe queen unless it was all I had. Be tempted to buy something with better ammo availability. Even the price of ammo before things went nuts was to high IMO---that's why I reload all handgun/rifle ammo (except 22LR), some shotgun, cast bullets, and have always kept a healthy supply of components for times like this. Scalpers and super hoarders are a big reason for alot this.
