Looking for a 7.62x39 to add. Any recommendations on brand and where to buy. I would like to keep it under 700.00 if possible?

Good luck with current demand and pricing.
You might try PSA.

Look for one of the milled receiver models. I believe Arsenal made them for a while from milled Bulgarian receivers.

Check the used guns in the Classifieds here and other online sites and auctions. Buying a good new one is pretty difficult.
Don't forget, you still gotta feed the thing.

You can still get 7.62x39 ammo for around $.40/rd.

How are them Zavasta AK’s? Over priced I am sure. I have seen them advertised for $999.

Think they're rated decent. Not sure if stamped or milled recievers? Most any comblock built military grade AK is going to work and last forever for what you’ll use it for. Some such as the earlier Romanian WASR’s when put back together in the US from parts had canted sites and other minor assembly problems not directly related to the quality of the parts themselves. Any comblock military AK is going to be made with forged trunnions and quality parts. Forged receivers are nice to shoot and to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into it. They obviously are worth a premium. I’d personally rather carry a stamped receiver into battle. The stamped receivers handle and point much better imo.

My son actually bought an AK just before the election. Fixed magazine for NY. I think he was a little over 1k out the door.

Waiting on a email notification for a black walnut or tiger maple wood stock M70 ZPAP. aka the new zastava usa model M70
Hopefully happen soon....
1.5 mm rpk thickness stamped receiver Rpk bulged forged front trunnion Forged bolt and carrier properly heat treated Properly heat tteated and hardened trigger group RPK mil spec thick barrel diameter Chrome lined barrel.
999 versus 899 for a wasr 10
No brainer . Buy the ZPAP.
Change out the shepards hook and put in a hammer and trigger pin retainer plate. Contour/ round over the hammer bump a little
Install a good ergo grip. Put a fighter brake on it.
Should run ...... Being facetious... LOL!!!

Sounds amazing. I'm looking at the VSKA as well. I would buy the slightly higher priced Wasr10 built with the right components, CL barrel and properly heat treated running train, properly heat treated receiver, trigger assembly, trunnions, rivet job. Look at 2 or 3 and pick the straightest one if you have the chance to examine several. If ya have someone who knows how to break one completely down and inspect one muzzle to butt plate. Buy him lunch. Look at your local armlist or gun ads websites for legit ads. Dont discount low round count used AK,s. Lots of people are selling excellent rifles with extremely low rd counts in exc condition. Cash talks Always bargin face to face after you breakdown and inspect the gun. You might know way more about the platform than the seller. Grants and Franklins shown are too much for some of private sellers to resist. Especially now with desperate for money types. You might get a smoking deal from a private state resident to state resident sale. IE... No four four seven three big brother stuff..... Stay away from any IO Early run Rileys. Century Arms RAS 47,s

I have a Norinco MAK 90. The Norinkos are stamped receives but thicker (1.6mm) that other stamped receivers. The Norinkos have a reputation as some of the best made AKs. problem for you is they are going for $2500 to $3000 right now. I paid $250 for my MAK 90 back in '92. They're going for $1500 and up now. Probably the best option would be an SKS which you could buy for around $1000. BTW, the prices will never come down, so if you want something buy it now. Back when Springfield M1A were going for $700 to $800 dollars I dilly dallied around, Then they jumped up to $1200 and they have never come back down. Really nice M-14s like a Fulton Armory or James River Rockola will cost your $2800 - $3000. If you want something, bite the bullet and get it. https://atlanticfirearms.com/taxons/ak47-for-sale - some attractive prices here

My son just ordered a RD garand thumb version pistol....because he just had to.....I’d probably just do ^^^^^^ and build or buy a zpap or such. For the past 16 months have been totally enjoying outfitting my RD 704 pistol with optics and getting it set up for a suppressor. Tons of fun to shoot. Worked up a load using our Barnes 123 TSX and CFE Black. I call her Aunti.....Aunti Antifa! This is a 200 yd group where I shoot 5 with optics and 5 with irons. You can tell the steel is hit with copper instead of lead fore bullets. Even with an 11-1/2" barrel those 123 TSX are hitting 2300+ fps at the muzzle.
