Howa has a new version of the 1500 Mini. The Carbon Fiber Stalker weights 4lbs 10oz. Looks a lot better than that clunky stock that comes on the regular models and more than a pound lighter. Replace that junky plastic bottom metal and this is a really nice rifle. Available in .223, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39 and 350 legend. Haven't seen any pricing yet, but the Howas are usually at a pretty good price point.

Seriously. Give me an internal box magazine every time. Wish the detachable mag fad would pass.

Seriously. Give me an internal box magazine every time. Wish the detachable mag fad would pass. While I don't much care for the Howa setup, every bolt gun I own, and will ever own, has a detachable mag. I prefer the AICS platform, but there are a couple of other valid contenders. I simply can't see a scenario where I would prefer an internal mag for any reason whatsoever.

I too would rather have a good DM than that but if the price is decent I’ll probably get one. If I hate the magazine I’ll swap it with that nice floor plate Oregon gunsmithing is selling. Those could be turn key setups for my girls.

Keep the mag. Fumble digging around trying to load tiny cartirges in a tiny action from the top fucgging sucks. Its an ugly added Howa not a model 70

I have the Oregon gunsmithing bottom metal on my 6.5 grendel. $165 addition is worth it in my experience.

I think this is the perfect place for the feeding question. Thank you for bringing it up.

Mine feeds perfect with 3 down, not so good with 4 down. I usually have one chambered and one in the mag so it's a non issue for me.

What fresh Hell is this?

I usually only put 3 down as well. It seems the way the follower is attached, it is a little issue getting the rounds in like they should be. Sometimes the first round hangs up and I have to help it in. I didn’t want the mag because it sticks out way too far. I would have been ok with the mag if it was a flush fit and had a better mag release. Maybe I just need to shoot more to break it in.

I wonder if they would sell just the stock.... I read Stockys was making them for them so if that’s true maybe they’ll sell them separately on their site?
