Hello all-

I am looking to consolidate from the previous 2 part rangefinder/binoculars combo I carry to a nice set of range finding binoculars.

I will start by saying price isn’t a total factor if reviews point to the highest end options, but with 2 kids and knowing the cost of Leica/Swaro optics, the difference between a great option/best pays for 30% of feeding them in a year...long story short, I am looking for the best bang for my buck, but if the highest end options are truly the Best Buy’s, I am fine with taking the plunge—-the kids can ration.

I'm anxious to see the pricing on the new Meopta RF bino

If you want all the newest ballistic features then I'd look at the big 3, but if you're like me and want great optics and a basic rangefinder I'd go with the Geovid R's for new or find used HD or HD-R's.

Tough to beat a demo Leica Geovid HD-R from Doug, in terms of bang for buck.

Interesting direction you are taking. I’ve handled some of the binoc/RF combos and found them heavy. I’m staying with 10x32 Swaro binocs and Leica 900 RF.
Different strokes......

23oz binocs and 7.5oz LRF. You figure you can tell the difference between those 2 and a ~32oz combo unit? I can tell you for certain that I can tell the difference in convenience and utility between the 2. Never take my eyes off the target, just bang the range button then go to the gun. No digging for a 2nd unit, finding the target again, etc.

I have gone back and forth Dale, and I hate how clumsy a range finder and separate binocular is. I like to go as simple as possible, specifically for bow hunting, the combo will work better for this purpose- or I spend the cash and regret it—we’ll see.

another thing to keep in mind is that for most folks, ranging far away animals is much easier with a bino/RF unit.

All around it makes more sense for me at this point.

Other than Leica or Swarovski, has anyone had any experience with the vortex, or units in the $1000-$2000 range? Admittedly the only thing that attracts me to the Vortex is lifetime warranty. That said other then getting a new optic after a couple weeks wait time, what good is a lifetime warranty if the products is garbage(not saying it is, just making a point). I am not sure what other brands have comparable range finding Bino’s, but I am sure I’m missing a few.

yep that is how I started out. doug sells em for the right price, and when you are able you have value that can be used to upgrade.

I read what was provided on the Leica website on the 10X42 Geovid HD-R-2700 and compared the Geovid 1042R.
Are the main differences better lens coatings on the HD-R-2700 along with the better ergonomics?
What else am I missing?

Thanks, checked them out on their website. I like Swaro’s but not doing the extreme hunts as in the past. More interested in the Leica.
