Does anyone know of a Colt Woodsman gunsmith? I have a 1st series that I can't get to shoot, when I pull the trigger the disconnector slides under the sear. I've taken it apart and examined all the pieces and they look fine. I replaced all the parts from another gun and it still won't shoot. I know it's assembled correctly as my other one shoots fine, I'm totally stumped. Any info would be much appreciated.

is the trigger spring properly installed/captured? trigger bar works normally? sear spring on top of sear? hammer strut not backwards?

I checked the disconnector, it's fine, took the sear, spring, hammer, strut, main spring and slide from another Woodsman and installed them in numerous configurations with the same results. I can't find anything wrong with the frame either. I can tear down and reassemble one with my eyes closed seeing as I've done it with this one so many times and my other one functions flawlessly. Whatever it is I'm not seeing it.

If you've done all that, and everything is right, then it's purty much gotta be in the slide. Mebbe try swapping them next?

Chris, if you can't get it worked out yourself, go over to the colt forums and PM Tom Platt. He goes by 'prewoodsman'. If he can't get you plumbed up over the phone, he can dang sure have you send it to him to fix. Nobody better......
