I finally got a nice CD I have been waiting for a long time. My wife has spent a lot of time trying to get pictures on the forum.
The text and pictures made it to the image gallery and she can't move them to Savage Collectors. Technology has moved
way beyond me.

Gosh, that’s a beautiful rifle. That one rifle just says Savage 99. It has everything. Very envious here.

Well done Bill. that one was worth the wait. I don't think the rear sight is original but that is a minor point.

Hey Rick, I checked on correct rear sight for CD made in 1907, Looks like it's a Savage.#14 Rocky Mountain.
I might look for one. Hope to see you in Tulsa.

Nice rifle!
That is the first take-down 1899 CD that I've seen.

$25.50 for the 1899CD, another $5 for takedown == $30.50 in 1907.
The order code would have PERFUMELY. The trailing "ly" indicated it was to be a takedown.

Thanks Calhoun for the pictures and info on the price and order code.
Next is ordering a letter. After a very long wait I now am in contact with Cody in Wy. and it looks like $75.00 for a letter.
Is that the new way of getting a letter? I don't like changes.

Yep, that's the new way. If you become a member you can get it cheaper, but that only helps if you are going to get at least 3.

That or a one year membership ($150-$250) if taking a trip to Yellowstone with the family and have other rifles you want answers on.

cool, That's the newer takedown. The other one was an earlier octagon barrel 1899. I wonder if anyone here got it? I cover CD's to some extent in the new book.

WOW that is a beautiful rifle! Not that it matters but has the receiver been reblued? It seems very black-colored for 1908 bluing. I would love to own a rifle like that! Congratulations, its a beauty!

Seen a CD in a collection that I bought some 1899 's from a couple days ago Non takedown better condition. Individual wasn't selling it but advised me he paid $6,000. for it. Also a 1899c 90% with an oct 30" barrel with a former owners name on it, also not for sale. Seemed pricey for a CD but what do I know. GW
