I have one in .257 Roberts. It shot less then 1" groups with .257 Roberts Remington 117 grain ammo. Amazingly accurate. It has a very tight chamber and a custom shop barrel on it. The factory laminate stock is nice looking and tough stuff and it will be hard to beat it up and make it look bad. PS. I decided to turn mine into a race car. Had it customized with 3 position Winchester type Safety, Steel floor plate and Steel buttpate. Then case colored and engraved. Above said, the stock gun shoots lights out and handles great. Mine was super to use in a deer blind situation. PS. Pictures of mine on this website. It has the swarovski scope and wall to wall fiddleback. https://www.customstocksandsteel.com/That gun is nice GORGEOUS!!!!!

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/2818293/1That was my fave little Mannlicher.....should have kept it. The Barnes and 95 BT will take out any deer and hog without issue. That RSI is a COMPACT bugger, about like a Rem. 600. When Winchester Custom Shop made the M70 Mannlicher's - I thought a 7/08 or 358 would have been a nice set up. No doubt folks either hate them or love them. Had a BSA Stutzen Air Rifle underlever cock, fixed barrel in .22, back in College, full stock...miss that one. Had a thing for either a M-S 6.5x54 or a M-S in a modern version in 6.5x55. Never had either. No doubt, some full stocked rifles are more appealing than others.

Always thought the .350 Remington Mag cartridge they chambered these in would be great bear medicine. Would probably rock your world when you touched it off however.

I had one in .250-3000 that I sold two years ago. If I recall correctly, it brought $1500 with base and rings, but no scope. I might have gotten a slight premium for the cartridge.

Remington Seven MS have 20" barrels and despite the heavier laminated stock they balance better than the average Remington Seven.
I put 2 stainless parts guns together with stocks that I found on-line, one in 223 and one in 260. I have wondered why anyone would buy a Seven MS and then part it out, but at least 2 people did to my benefit.

Some rifles wear mannlicher stocks better than others. The Ruger No.1 and 77 RSIs look great. The 10/22 not so much in my opinion. Much as I like a well appointed mannlicher, I don't like the laminate version. I think a Model 7 with a solid walnut mannlicher stock would be sweet, but I don't like the look of the laminate. Something incongruous there.

I have one in 308 and I love it. It’s sub inch gun every time I’ve ever shot it. I’ve always like them. I missed one in 7-08 last year and was pissed for days....I don’t think it was even close $2200 and IMO a more desirable caliber than the 243. Mine on 7-08 is one of the most accurate rifles I’ve ever owned. Shoots everything sub MOA. Even Factory ammo. My favorite little deer and hog hunting Carbine.

Much as I like a well appointed mannlicher, I don't like the laminate version. I think a Model 7 with a solid walnut mannlicher stock would be sweet, but I don't like the look of the laminate. Something incongruous there. My favorite mannlicher stocked rifles are the Husqvarnas. I like the long action Ruger 77 RSIs better than the short actions, as they seem to balance a little better. I really dislike the CZ mannlicher-style stocks, as the 550 FS had about the same balance as a 6' cedar fence post and both the 452 FS and 550 FS had the hogback style combs that I don't care for. The Mossberg 800 and Winchester 70 mannlicher-style stocks both felt kind of "clubby" in my hands, at least when compared to the Husqvarna 1600 and 9000 series rifles. I don't find the Remington Seven MS laminated stocks particularly objectionable, as they are well contoured, not too thin and not too thick, but I totally agree with you that laminated wood and an absence of open sights are both incongruous on a mannlicher-style stocked rifle. That said, I really like the laminated mannlicher-style stocks of late-1990's vintage Ruger 10/22 that were made for Walmart, the KRBIBBZs. When I think about it, the rifle with a mannlicher-style stock that I've had the longest is a Ruger 44 International and the one that I have shot the most is a 77 RSI that came to me as a 250-3000 and subsequently had the barrel set back about 1/8" and then rechambered to 25 Souper.
