H4350 fixes most problems... as does 4064...

Yes. Layne Simpson wrote an article years ago about common myths in the gun world. One of the myths was pet loads - loads that shoot good in all rifles. He found that to largely be a myth with two exceptions. One of those was 42.0gr of H414/W760 with 95/100gr bullets in the 243.
That load has shot very well for me in three different rifles. I'd like to read this article to see exactly what were his definitions and testing parameters. Certainly I can't make statements about a given load shooting well in all rifles, or a "pet" load being the very best shooting load for a particular rifle. I will say that there are loads out there quite likely to shoot very well, well enough often enough to be useful as shakedown cruise test loads for new rifles. Agreed. There are certain loads that "just work".
You didn't use logic or reason to get into this opinion, I cannot use logic or reason to get you out of it.
You cannot over estimate the unimportance of nearly everything. John Maxwell

H414 is a really poor powder if you plan on hunting at a different temperature than when you sight your rifle in. The pressure drops at lower temperature the POI changes. On the other hand if the temperature rises the pressures can be excessive and it also changes the POI. But if that's OK, have at it. I used up my last couple of pounds of H141 as fire forming loads and off hand practice in my 375 H&H AI.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I usually have gotten my best accuracy with the 95 and 100 grain bullets with IMR4350. Bingo ! …. We have a winner .

However , I've also achieved bug-holed groups with Sierra 85 grain bullets and IMR 4350 .

IMR4350 is a much better choice than H414. But I think that IMR 4451 and H4350 would be great also, though I have not worked up loads for those powders in the 243 yet.

I just stick with the slower powders for 243 with bullets 95+ grains, like H4831SC, R-23, R-26. I like the flattest trajectory I can get, out past where I expect to shoot.

I've found my .243 likes the 95 gr BT with 40.5 gr of RL 16. Same accuracy as H4350, almost 100 fps more. Certainly worth a try.

Im using the 95g BT and Win 760 (i understand very similar to H414) in a 1965 M70 Varmint.
Anyway, 40.4g Win 760 gave me 2986fps and sub inch groups. 39.6g of Win 760 gave me 2930fps and equally small groups. Both loads were 15 thousandths off the lands. Other 243s have done well with 760 and 95g bullets. That said, I agree with others that IMR4350 has given me better loads in other 243s. I just have a lot of 760 and this rifle is something "newish to me" to load and shoot.

Happened to have some powder and bullets to use up and did. After my loading tonight I've got a little over a pound and a half of 4350 left. So using up the 414 was the goal without burning up all my 4350. That schhits hard to come by and I should have been better stocked. I've loaded up about 3lbs worth this winter.

Im with ya. Conserving my 4350 for "working" loads is why i started loading the 243s with 760. But, if all i has was 760, id be happy enough.
