I've long desired a cavalry trooper's Springfield trap-door carbine. Maybe some day.

Up kinda at the beginning of the Searchers, when they have the river fight with the locals, Mose Harper is using a Jenks .54 cal percussion Naval breech loading carbine.

Not my favorite rifle but for authenticity in it's time period, hard to beat the Remington Keene with a telescopic sight in Crossfire Trail. Flintlocke, I. think that Remington Keene made the rounds. Sons of Katy Elder, El Dorado, and again in Joe Kidd! ππππ with and w/o scope.

I'll go ahead and show my Winchester 92. My next door neighbor is loading me up some .44-40 for it in exchange for some primers.

I've long desired a cavalry trooper's Springfield trap-door carbine. Maybe some day. The pawn shop down the street from me has one, but it's a junker. Bore looks real dark.

Unfortunately it's a cut down rifle Local shop had one like that about 20 years ago, for less than $4oo. Whoever modified it did a very convincing job. As happens to me so often, I 'slept' on it a bit too long.

One of the things that caught my eye when I first saw it was in the film The Long Riders. David Carradine was using a break action single-shot carbine, at the time I thought it might be one of a number breech loading carbines in use during the War of Secession and was impressed they would include it.
Turns out it was just a disguised H&R Topper but Iβm still impressed they included it. A number of interesting guns in that movie....

The url wonβt come up as a link so just Google on Long Riders guns.

the 1895 Winchester in Dersu Uzala, even if it was an anachronism.
Anybody seen a Bisley Colt in a movie?
Or a Colt New Service? IIRC, Richard Farnsworth used a Bisley in "The Grey Fox", and Lee Marvin had either a New Service or an Colt's Army Special in "The Professionals". In "Ride the High Country" bad guy Warren Oates was armed with a Model 8 Remington rifle.

Or a Colt New Service? Bisley Colt - The Grey Fox. A really good movie if you can find it somewhere. It starred Richard Farnsworth, not a very big name but recognizable from a lot of supporting roles, mostly westerns. Preview - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1sfJbhQ4ygI saw something with a Colt New Service in it recently but can't recall what it was. Oop! Looks like I was a couple of posts too late. drover

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

In "Ride the High Country" bad guy Warren Oates was armed with a Model 8 Remington rifle. Dad had a couple of 8's in 35Rem over the years and I got to shoot them a bit. Between being semi-auto, reasonably heavy, and a fairly small case they were a blast to shoot, very little recoil. I know my desire always lasted longer than the ammo........

Drover and 3040Krag,
YES! Grey Fox is a favorite of mine, haven't seen it in 10 years or more. I can't believe I forgot that.
I will have to change that soon.
There was something floating around the internet that the pistol in the movie MIGHT have been Miner's actual pistol
not sure how they would know.

My 1891 Winchester model 1886. Was Originally a standard round barrel rifle in 45-90 WCF. It's now a 33 WCF. Don't own a real Colt SAA but I have a Cimarron 45 Colt 4 5/8" Evil Roy. ouch! make mine a shotgun butt with a pachmayr decelerator.

Winchester 1873 's and whatever Paul Newman carried in "Hombre".Also the 1876 musket Tom Selleck had in "Crossfire Trail". Paul Newman's long gun in Hombre was an 1873 Winchester with a half-magazine. Either a 44-40 or 38-40.
