Next to the 7mm/08, the 6mm Remington is my favorite cartridge for whitetails. I have loaded the 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip with 43 grains of IMR 4350 and watched the venison drop on the spot for many years.

85 grain Partition into the important parts causes mush inside, good exit wounds and fresh backstrap for the skillet. It's a fantastic deer round.

Just got my prechambered 6mm barrel. Mine is a 7.5 twist so I can shoot heavies. I believe the 6mm is underrated, but haven't shot a deer with it. Killed deer and antelope with a 243, so I'd expect same results.

I hate to say this, but I've had five 6mm Remington rifles in the last thirty-five or so years. I have never shot a deer with one. Seems like I always used a .250 Savage mostly, or something else. My current 6mm Remington is a Cooper that I ordered about ten years ago. Very accurate, but I only hunt elk nowadays, haven't hunted deer in years.

It works. I've shot several deer with mine, mostly using 100 grain Hornady's. Last year I switched to 80 Barnes TTSX's. Nothing wrong with the Hornady's, just a switch on my part. A buddy owns a 6mm, it's the only deer rifle he's owned for nearly 50 years. He uses 100 grain Horady's.

I’ve killed multiple deer with 243s & 6mm R. All were killed with 100 gr Hornady or
Rem CorLoks. Couldn’t tell the diff.

If I used my 6 now I’d use 85 or 95 partitions.

Love mine, best in an intermediate action, I get published 243 velocity out of mine - something I never get with a 243.

My 6mm Rem barrel is a 7 ½'' twist. I've taken deer, pronghorn and a coyote or two with it. Never had to chase one yet. I believe it to be superior to the 243. I'll be loading some 103 ELDX in mine for long, heavies. TTSX and GMX as I begin building some loads.

I have used this exact load and also 45g IMR 4831 with the same bullet. Deadly on deer and very accurate I’m my Mode 700. Also killed many with 100g partitions in federal factory premium ammo.

I have used my 6mm with 85 grain Barnes , and Reloader 19 exclusively in Wyoming for Mule Deer. Shot and where from 50 to 300 yards.

The one I have has kilt a few truckloads of deer and quite a few coyotes since the late 70's. Was my step-dads until he fell on hard times and I bought it.

Most of both have been shot with the 85 grain Sierra spitzer. Schittloads of drt animals to that bullet. 45 grains of IMR-4350.

Several with 100 grain bullets of whatever flavor and several with 95 grain Partitions. They all work about the same w equal shot placement. 44-45 grains of IMR-4350.

Getting ready to try some 80 grain Ballistic Tips. One of the members here claims to have really good luck with em on.

The only powder mine has burned other than a dab of Hybrid 100V with 70 grain bullets is IMR-4350. Probably newer powders that work as well or better but I have never tried em.

Getting ready to pick up 8# of H-4350 because of availability so it will get switched over.

I've had at least one rifle chambered in 6MM REM for over 50 years. It is a fine dual-purpose cartridge that was hamstrung from the day that it was introduced as the .244 REM by Remington's marketing choices. The 244 REM was one of those cartridges that Remington introduced in a marketing campaign that had them zigging when they should have been zagging.

I've shot a pile of whitetails with the 6MM REM, a lot of them with 80 grain Federal factory ammo that was purchased at a going out of business sale for $2 per box. When my Father gave a Remington 660 in 6MM REM to me, he bought a couple hundred rounds of 244 REM 90 grain Bronze Point factory ammo, 'cause he thought that was the best 6MM REM factory ammo option for shooting deer in 1968.

Factory ammo is OK, but the guy who loads his own has a lot of good component bullet options.

Bad thing is I have had just as good of luck w the light bullets as the 90+ grain bullets.

Too bad everybody thought heavier was better back in the day.

.243, 6mm R, 6mm C, and a couple of others from Yurrup; all peas in a pod on game with the same bullets. How could it be otherwise? They all are in the same velocity bracket. Fast twists let you shoot longer bullets, but how many use bullets for deer that won’t spin in a 1-10” or 1-9”?

This is my go to combination in my favorite 6mm, a Husqvarna 1640. It has a slower twist so I snagged a bunch a 85 gr Partitions and have yet to be disappointed.
