an acquaintance here in town probably won't ever speak to me again after I ran into him yesterday. He has always been a RINO, and he made some offhand remark about Rush's passing. I 'savaged' him over it, spun around and walked away. I don't need azzholes like him in my life.

First mistake OP made was paying attention to the MSM.
Sad but true; this is all true to form and as has been pointed out, Rush saw it coming.
Grateful he was recognized for the man he was by the Pres and received an appropriate award commemorating that fact.

As Rush, himself, said over and over, "Folks, it's who they are, it's what they are, full of hate and vitriol; do not doubt me on this!" .......... Rush has said that on numerous occasions and I recall it well. No surprises indeed. And it's about what can be expected from the propaganda machine and reminds me of why I haven't seen the nightly news on any MSM channel other than occasionally Fox news since 2009.

Johnathan Carl claimed Rush had cochlear implants and then became addicted to pain killers.He's a FKing moron.Rush had developed hearing problems after his addiction to pain killers.When a Commie beats addiction they're heralded as a hero but when a conservative beats addiction he is always and forever called an addict.
The other channel took statements out of context and added their own repugnant and ignorant statements.
I always watch our enemies just to determine their tactics and lies but their savaging of Rush was beyond the pale even for Commie ass-holes. As painful as this is, keep those enemies close enough for the intel.

I watched the weather on a local news channel two days ago. That was the first time in years that I have watched a MSM channel
The weather report was helpful, but the commercials caused me to turn off the TV.

The Left, as is typical, will dwell on Rush's human frailties. They will remind everyone about his episode with addiction, with his failed marriages, his hearing loss, they will try to make an issue over the fact that his listenership numbers came down from their extraordinary peak.
In the end, be it publicly or privately, they will acknowledge that he was not only the biggest name in Talk radio, but more influential than anyone else in the MSM. The KILLS them. Rush was self made. He left NYC and the cesspool that is vultures looking for carcasses to pick over, victims to savage to escape that atmosphere and live in Florida. The only other person I can think of that was able to do that was Jackie Gleason. Rush thrived in Florida when his critics said his show would fail leaving NYC.
Truly, Rush was exceptional, and a thorn in the side of the Left.

I watched NBC last night specifically for their reaction. Lester inferred Rush's broadcast was racist and controversial.
I woke up in the middle of the night and ABC overnight news had two negroes on there saying he was a racist.
