You'll never catch a fox in a conibear or any sort of live trap.
1.5 coil spring dirt hole set. Google it. I think I can do this, but isn't this a live trap? By 'live trap' I was referring to a havahart or similar type cage trap. A 1.5 coil spring is a leg hold trap. The thing is, you'll have to make the trap odorless by boiling and dying it, otherwise a leg hold won't work either. You'll need to YouTube a few vids to see how everything is done. It might be easier to try and call the fox or foxes in with a predator call. Yep, good deal thanks👍

If there’s no concern for bycatch (your dogs and cats) you can use a cubby set. Use a 220 conibear in a bucket. Bait the bucket. Set the trap but keep the safeties on so he gets used to it and fully commits to taking the bait without accidentally triggering the trap while he’s figuring things out. After he takes the bait a couple times, take the safeties off and you’ll have 1 dead fox. May not be legal in your area but it’s very effective I've caught foxes in bucket cubby sets for wolverines. A friend up north gets them all the time in lynx cubby sets. Until I caught the first one, I didn't know they'd poke their heads inside a cubby set of any kind.

I use a snare. Cable around tree and a treble hook buried with chicken above ground. Totally illegal here. But my property and my chickens.
Dead fox, coyote, crows.possums, etc. You do what you got to do

I had a friend tie a piece of chicken about 3-4' above ground hanging with fishing line. Below the chicken put a leg hold trap in a hole, cover with a few loose leaves. Fox jumps up to grab the chicken, and leg falls in the hole and the trap gets him. Shoot him in the morning. Possibly another way is to put snares around the chicken yard, he will eventually go through one and grab him around the neck.

Drive up in a Maserati and ask her to dinner. This. ^^^^ And tell her you love here. Redheads are crazy and might just believe it.

I’d go dirt hole set and a leg hold.
220’s above ground make me nervous unless it’s a hyper controlled environment.
Chicken schit makes good bait. Yes, bury a couple rotten eggs in a pile of chicken manure , with a leg hold trap. They are beautiful ......but dirty filthy rascals 😁

I caught one just over two weeks ago in a lynx cubby. They're not coyotes and certainly not wolves. For K9s, they're easy to fool. No need to dye, wax or boil a foothold trap if you're specifically after a fox, especially a fox that is used to human scent.

Not a red, but a gray, last May outside the chicken gulag. How is your fox getting in to get your hens? Are you mistakenly leaving a door to the coop open, like I did one night in August? I found a sure way to make sure they don't continue to eat chickens is to catch them in the act and shoot them with a .380 in the head. Build a secure coop, then they don't get to your hens. Or, don't be dumb like me and leave the door open at night, then have to rush out in the dark in your house shorts and slippers.

Learn how to trap coyotes. You'll catch way more foxes than you want to.

Anyone have any experience on the easiest way to trap a Red Fox. Sumbitch keeps killing my chickens. 1 every 2 months like clockwork. After 4 years I'm ready to end him if I can.
a snare.
I spend all my money on loose women and trapping supplies.....The rest I just waste.

They are not that difficult to catch, with either a foothold trap, a snare or a live cage trap. I would not recommend as some suggested any type of bucket cubby with a Conibear. While it might be legal, it is not very effective for fox, and also too much of an exposure for killing non-targets, specifically somebodies dog. While not the most effective way to remove them, I would suggest starting with a large good quality live cage trap. Maybe a double door Comstock. Buy it once and you will have it forever, as most likely it will come in handy in the future. We catch quite a few this way. Or possibly an inexpensive predator caller, if firing a weapon is practical here, fox can be called in fairly easy. Grey Fox are much easier than Reds, but still not a big deal. If you are anywhere near Russellville, AR , I have a friend there that is an excellent trapper, and would be glad to do this for you, or give you a tutorial as to how to do it yourself over the phone to shorten the learning curve. This is what he does for a living also, and he enjoys helping folks out like this .

1.5 coil spring dirt hole set. Google it. I'll cast another vote for dirtholes and double coil spring traps. I never went without boiling & waxing traps. I believe fox are very sensitive to scent, plus a waxed trap is less likely to freeze up or rust.

Bucket sets will catch foxes, but you'll clean out everything else in the neighborhood first.
Even big dogs.

Drive up in a Maserati and ask her to dinner. I would have been disappointed if it took many more posts than this for the an answer like that!
