You would rather they keep it all?
I would rather not give them an interest free loan. If your income and deductions are fairly fixed from year to year, it's very simple to adjust the withholding to minimize the size of a payout or refund. Its especially easy if you take a standard deduction.

Seems they adjusted the withholding again. Getting less back than last year on the same income, more or less.
I’m one that the new regs were pretty much a wash on money-wise, but I’m sure enjoying not doing all that itemizing! Wham, Bam, file.
What fresh Hell is this?

I'll have to do an extension again, it seems some side hustle income stream messes me up every year.
One year I'll pay too much and get a refund, but I'm not sure how they can take much more and I still always owe.
Damn socialists. I have had to pay every single year since Obama took office. My wife and I have adjusted our withholdings to pay in more every year but somehow we still owe. I thought married couples got a better tax rate than single. I'm almost to the point of claiming single to break even.

Did mine on 2/12 thru FreeTaxUSA. Federal is free, State cost $13. We’ll see how long it takes.
Governor Halfwit screwed me out of my Homestead Property tax credit. For 2019 I got $1450 of it back, 2020 I only got $450. Thanks gretchen. Got the Federal refund today on the 23rd - in just 11 days. I wonder how long Governor Half-wit will drag her ass before I get my State refund?

I’m all about net zero. Income from all sources is pretty volatile, mostly positive. It makes it tough and the recent changes to charitable, itemizations, and state tax contribute to unknowns. We generally get a return regardless of how I setup deductions. I’m not super familiar with tax nuances yet either so could be a gap on my side.

Delaying writing that check as long as poss this year, since it’s going to fund [bleep] that 90% of I’ll disagree with The last two years it has been deducted from my checking account on 4/15. Not sure I feel good about how they do that. I guess the same as me writing a check, but I have mixed feeling about the government taking money out of my checking account. Not happy how it is spend when they get it either.

Mine just got deposited today and was $600 less than expected. Funny, that is the same amount as the January "stimulus check." I looked on the IRS website and it said that my return was still being processed. Gotta luv the government

The last $600 stimulus was based on your 2019 return. I'm guessing that you made enough in '20 to not be eligible so they took it back.
