Considering the rifles for which I load - .225 Win., .30-30 Win., .30-06, & 8x57 Mauser - I guess it would have to be IMR-4064.

I use IMR 4064 in my 22 CHeetah MK 1 and my 375 H&H Ackley Improved. If I HAD to use only one powder it would work in my 7mm mag and 300 win mag as well. <P>My vote is for IMR 4064<P>Don [Linked Image]

Man I'm warped.<P>When I saw the title of the thread, all I could think of was Cheech Marin talking about "Santa Cleese" and his magic dust. You know, the stuff that allowed the reindeer to fly...<P>Otherwise I just need two powders. Some 700X and some H870. I mix them in different proportions for different cartridges. Of course, after the accident I had to start shooting lefty, but no biggie ;-)

Blammer,<BR>One size don't fit.<BR>Either IMR 3031 or IMR 4198 would keep most of my rifles on line,though.<BR>Frank<P>------------------<BR>Frank Earley

I'd have to say IMR 4895 for rifles and Unique for shotgun and pistol.<BR>BCR

well I sure hope I am never limited to one powder but if I was. I would have to go with black powder. it is the only thing I know of that can do it all. pistols, rifles, shotguns, muzzleloader. I wouldn't be happy about only having one powder but I could deal with it.<P>------------------<BR>"and I ain't got no money but I damn sure got it mad cause I ain't askin nobody for nothing if I can't get it on my own. If you don't like the way I'm livin you just leave this long haired country boy alone"<BR>Charlie Daniels<P>"I got a shotgun a rifle and a 4 wheel drive and a country boy can survive" Hank jr.

H-4350, it seems a touch slower than the other brands. I sure hate the idea of giving up H-380 or H-414 though.

Hi Cag - No, I got rid of the 270 Wby. It shot good but I really didn't need it. I just picked up a 7mm Mag A-Bolt. Like everthing about it except the travel in the trigger. How's everything going for you and yours down there in sun country.

I would have to choose IMR4350 to work for me. I have lots of others but I try to get this to work first. Smokey

From pleasanter times, when folks were more courteous to each other, and the campfire wasn't full of wise ass trolls...

a 20 year old thread... No Covid 19 BS to deal with...

to answer the O.P.'s original question> IMR 4895, or 4064. or RL 15.... or W 748..... any one of them would work...

Yep. Could use H 4895 in a lot of them.

I’d have to say for rifle, Varget. And handgun, Unique. Those two will practically do it all if needed.

Brilliant work Seafire bringing back a 20 year old thread !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The funniest post was Big Stick, he stated a one sentence answer that made sense with no name calling or using a dialect of a different language or rambling on in disconjointed paragraphs for a full page !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he hasn't done that in at least 19 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank You !!!!!!!!!!
