Times like these when the temps swing 60-70 degrees in a matter of a day or two makes me marvel at the adaptability of game and livestock.

Hit 60 here today too with highs of mid to high 50s forecast up through the weekend. Fully expect to start to seeing some premature budding out of greenery now but gets killed off by late cold snaps up through March which is pretty typical for late winters here.

Winter will be over soon enough. I get less and less of a hurry for time to pass nowadays.

We're still waiting to actually have winter, had 1 cold snap, very little snow, more wind than usual but nothing like the usual winters we have in Colorado.

I know the bigger & more prepared farmers have plug ins, heaters, battery maintainers & the like.. But a lot of smaller operators used to keep a gas powered tractor on hand for feeding in the winter for the simple reason it might start when the diesels wouldn't.

Never underestimate carburetors & points.

Absolutely fantastic here today. Spent the day in the bay, setting pilings in chest waders and a tee shirt.

Good riddance. I bought a bottle of Italian sparkling wine for me and the wife to celebrate with.

The only good aspect of it is, my old tractor fired up in 15 degree weather after setting idle for a couple of months. I really didn't know what to expect out of that old tractor when I bought it. But it seems like it's going to be something I can depend on.

Anyway,...I'm *bad* ready for Spring. Fug this yankee weather.

Weather wasn't crazy like this until they started sending them rockets to the moon .

Or a nice big heated shop...

Which we don't have!

Key to quick cold weather starts is that initial quick spin. Good battery and/or jump(before you even try it..) makes all the difference for 10-20 year old diesel tractors.

They start really easy compared to +20 year old tractors.
