I just bought LaPua 6.5 creed brass with the small rifle primer pockets. Is there an advantage to this? Or have I messed up. These are for hunting loads in the fall winter time. Thanks in advance. hunter

If you run warm loads your primer pockets will last longer.

On the other hand, the disadvantage is that you can get inconsistent ignition in really cold weather with certain powder/primer combinations.

Thanks guys. Should I use Rem 6 1/2 or 7 1/2 primers? I will be hunting here in the late fall and its usually in the 30's or 40's temp wise during the day.

If anyone needs this brass the fellow had like 6900 and it came to around $1 a piece shipped.

Remington 6-1/2 primers are not the right choice. Remington doesn't even recommend the 6-1/2 for .223 ammo; suggests they should only be used in the .22 Hornet, and the like. I burned up the rest of 6-1/2s, loading 9mm pistol ammo. They worked well for that, but I wouldn't use them for the 6.5 Creedmoor.

CCI 450’s is what most I’ve heard use.

7.5 or 450 whichever is the most accurate.

I checked today and I have a bunch of 7 1/2's but no 450's. But found 2000 fed small pistol primers I didn't realize was in the cabinet. Nice surprise. LOL But will watch for 450's. Thanks all, for the help here on this. hunter718

I did the same thing a year ago.

CHANGE OR MODIFY the de-capper pin!!! The flash holes are smaller.

I use LEE Neck only so you have to slim down the decapper it is a one piece affair. That said I tried Fed SR Match Fed AR Match CCI white box (favorite in everything else) all fired essentially .70 @ 200 yards. I did after the fact but some 450s but as of yet untested. I was using Federal brass with BETTER RESULTS .40 to .45' at 200 yqrds but even with mild loads primers loose in 4 reloads neck sized only. I did reduce my first loads as the brass has less internal volume.
