I was wondering the same thing, but I am still very interested in the topic of conversation nonetheless. I would never have happened upon this exchange if it would have been posted in some politics/question and answer section, because I do not go to those...I cannot stand the screaming and ranting about everything. As if politics were some kind of team sport. Blech. I gotta figure out how to follow this discussion without having to actually read through the political discussion listings...

I submit all of the above....plus money.
The US personal savings rate has skyrocketed since Covid. We don't have anything to spend money on...no dining out, vacations, sports events, travel, limited hunting trips, etc. A lot of us like firearms and accessories, we have the funds; why not some hardware?

I totally had not thought of that. But then I have two kids under 4yrs, so an over abundance of funds to spend on guns (no matter how pretty) is not a condition I enjoy. I suppose the way to check out whether this kind of thing might be a solid idea is to see if other items people collect and obsess over (like guns) are also enjoying a sustained boom in sales. Interesting line of reasoning.

Panic buying. I have a good friend who works for Beretta USA. He’s sold over $100,000,000 in firearms as of right now today. Components are tough to come by. Tikka is sold out for the year. The firearms industry is at an “all bets are off” place right now.
