I loaded it for years in my 06 with 180 gr. bullets, 300 WM and 300B. I tried it last year in my 280 AI but got slightly better accuracy with H-1000. In the present my go to powders are H-`1000 and H- 4350 and RL-15

I forgot one, the 264 Win Mag and Hornady 129 IL. Got a tack driver here with H4831

I use it for a 7RM with 140 AB’s and in a 300wsm with 168 Berger’s and get phenomenal accuracy with both.

I have burned a fair amount of IMR 4831 over the years. It was the first powder I purchased back in ‘92 for my .300 Win Mag...worked well in that gun as well as two others in the same caliber with 180 grain bullets. It is currently my go to powder in two of my .270 Winchesters with 140 grain Accubonds. Crazy accurate in my .243 Winchester with 100 grain Hornady BTSP’s

My only issue with it is I wish my inventory was a little larger.

This was my original plan and reason for buying a couple pounds. Maybe I just didn't try the right bullet/charge combo. I'm running 40.0 grain H4350 charge in my 243 pushing a 100gr Sierra GameKing and the rifle is stupid accurate regularly producing 3 shot 1/2" groups and able to hold 10 shots in an inch assuming I do my part 10x in a row (which is questionable). Anyway, I still have a couple pounds of IMR4831 - I may give it another go in the 243.

Beyond that, should I ever get drawn for a moose tag in NH or ME I'd load some 200s in my 30-06 and go to the IMR for that or maybe some 175s in the 7x57.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions all.

I too have hit or miss results with 4831. I had one 270 that loved it and one that would not shoot it for crap. Both with 130 gr bullets. The same was true for 4350, the one that loved 4831 hated 4350 and vis versa.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Great powder for multiple cartridges and my go-to accuracy powder for my 280 Ackley 140's.

Get's the speed too.

Just picked up another 8 lbs for $200.00 at my local gun store, the last keg on the shelf.

I get nervous when I get down to less than 8 lbs of imr4831. It is THE powder for my 25-06 and 7mm rem mags. I use it in my 8mm rem mag, 264 wm, 25-284, 270, and 300 wm. It has proven itself over the years in my eyes.

"The powder" for me has been IMR4064. I use it in the 308, 30-06, 270 and have in the past 7x57 and 243.

Over the years I've burned a fair amount of IMR 4831 in a 270win and more recently a 280AckImp.

I don't think there's a 270win made that won't shoot lights out with 57grs of IMR4831 and a 130gr pill.

In my 280AckImp I've had decent accuracy with 140gr and 150gr bullets

Around 25 years ago Gander Mountain had a sale on it. I'd just bought a 25-06, dies and all the other components for it. I've been using it for that cartridge, among others, ever since.

Using it in my Winchester .270, I virtually duplicate Hornady Whitetail ammo, with the 130 Interlocks. Shoots great and kills deer well. 2970 fps.

My LGS has multiple 1# & 8# jugs of the stuff. Maybe I'll snag a 8# since the 270 is generally my go to.

It is great, but H4831 is every bit as good. I just tested a load yesterday (because I have no more IMR) and it was fantastic. The load was actually 100 fps faster, than the one that I like with the IMR. Same Interlock. Eight pounds should do you forever.
