isn't the jw-15 a direct copy of the cz-452? it'd be a darn good one to emulate. Big Ed

Bought one with a Leupold 4X on it for two beans. Figured a good deal even if it wasn’t accurate..... and it wasn’t as it turned out. Slugging showed tight spots in bore and a reverse taper - tighter at the breech end than the muzzle end. After giving up trying for accuracy with several lots of 22 ammo I gave up. It had a 1:14” twist IIRC (or was it 1:13” it was faster than usual for sure) and I had hopes of it being accurate with the SSS 60 grain subsonic ammo. I discussed ’pinned’ barrels with a few friends and after wondering “how hard is it to rebarrel one of these?” I soon had the cross pin out and the TIGHT barrel shank out of the receiver. The cross pin locking the barrel shank in place is finished with the radius of the receiver surface making removal difficult as you can’t get a good purchase on the rounded pin face. After removal I flat ended and smoothed the sharp edges of the cross pin which would make it much easier to remove if needed again. The barrel shank was much tighter fit than I thought necessary so I spun it in the lathe and polished it minimally- trying not to get any slop in the fit. It still needs to be tight! Decided to “use what I had” and relined it with a fine Redman Liner in 17 caliber 1:9” twist reamed to 17 Mach II. I also cut the barrel to 17” length and in retrospect might should have left it longer and shortened later if desired as there are lathes all around me. Result: the Norinco magazine works about 75% of the time, so one of my CZ magazines takes it’s place. The Redman liner was shooting about 1” @ 50 yards until about 50 rounds went through, and now shoots closer to 1/2” @ same distance with 100 rounds (total) through. It’s fun to shoot and after another 50 rounds and some JB who knows? (JB is cheaper than 17M2 ammo!). If I had the time and found another poor shooting Norinco 22 I’m thinking 22 SHORT MATCH chamber with another Redman liner or new barrel. One thing is certain— you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, but a purse made of pig’s ear still works. And... I have a sweet little Leupold 4X after all this... 😆

I picked up one of these in an auction last summer and it also shot very poorly. I took the barrel out (so tight I cut it off and bored it out in the lathe), then turned off the threads of a new CZ 452 takeoff barrel, fit it to the Norinco, locktite and pinned. It now shoots 3/4” or so at 60 yards. It’s useful now at least and I’ll use it for a squirrel rifle for the kids most likely.
Shoot straight, shoot often
