I've killed a bunch of Texas Gulf Coast coyotes within 3 hours of Houston. They were big and usually much redder but they are all coyote....

Grew up about an hour north east of houston and a lot of hour coyotes were larger than average and redidish

Around Pittsburg? That about the right area? Old plantations turned into tree farms?

Seems like an area red wolves might be?

Got me confused now.

A friend of yours cameras? Any way to find a scat sample? Track? Shed hair?

Could be red wolf.

That's in it's habitat range. But being a "red wolf" is pretty diluted now. They will breed with coyotes, and that genetics marker can show up as Kellywk said.

There's sub species of coyotes as well, but given their location and features, they look like a red was in woodshed to me.

Top 2 picts, the heads look wider more like a wolf. But the bottom pict, the back ends look narrow more like yotes. But what do I know. We don't have wolves in Indiana.
