Yes, 458 Win ammo can safely be fired in 458 Lott rifles.

Old Fugly the .458 Lott is still at Hilltop Gun Shop and Spa for Wayward Rifles.
Maybe she will get a chance to compete against the .458 WM with 250-gr Hornady Monoflex bullets.
She might have a chance with a bullet that light,
and she might do better patterning with birdshot.
Those are the two fortes of the .458 Lott, birdshot and rat loads.

Steve Berg told me a Guide Rifle should be straight bolted , a 416 , and have no safety at all.
He guided under Andy Runion.

I have an Old Ugly but it's not as ugly as some. Siam Mauser in 45-70, + P loads will get your attention

I've got a version of old ugly on a Belgian FN action with the exception of a 9.3x62 chambering. A bit more prettier than Phil's but not much more. Like putting lip stick on a pig. Someday I'd like it to meet up with one of those Brownies.

It was a great article indeed, lost the magazine during one of our moves, but remember the article well.

Okie John;
Good morning to you sir, I hope the day's looking to be a good one for you folks and as much as possible all is going well for you.

If you do your own bedding or have someone who does, I've built a couple rifles on these stocks made up near Edmonton and have been very pleased with the quality.

They make a couple shapes, one with a Monte Carlo type cheek piece and a more traditional European looking one.

Anyways sir, sometimes it's good to have options.

The top stock is one I've used on my personal rifle for 11 seasons now and again I've been extremely pleased with all aspects of it.

Mine started as a .270 and is now a 6.5x55, but I'm sure a chat with the owner Stuart would confirm the stock will be fine for a .458, though perhaps not the super lightweight one that I've used, but one that has the carbon fiber I beam running through the entire stock with adds a couple ounces.

Hopefully that was useful to you or someone out there.

All the best and good luck with your builds.

Dwayne

For my Zastava .458WM I used a Hogue stock with the full aluminium bedding block and I couldn't be happier.
It's very strong and stable and the rubber coating is great in the cold and wet.
Ver reasonably priced too.

Cheers,

Russ

You'll probably never NEED a gun. In fact I hope you never do. BUT IF you do, you will probably need it worse than anything you've ever needed before in your life...
