A sub-three inch group at 1000 yds. That is pretty amazing - I have owned a couple of rifles that weren't capable of shooting a group that small at 100 yds.

Wait...he was using a second focal Vortex and Krieger barrel. I thought you needed FFP and Bartlein to shoot long range? 🤣
Bad ass shooting! That guy could pass for 65, doesn't look 83. Good for him.

Shot at my range! That's cool. The winds are tricky out there.

I've never shot long range with my SFP and wished my reticle was thicker....

The really interesting thing about this group is, like mist groups fired in 1000 yd BR, it is shot blind. You don't know the POI of the previous shot, you don't know what effect the wind may have had. The rifle must, indeed, be very accurate and bench technique must be perfect but the shooter won't know until he sees the group afterward. I saw a lot of small 8 and nine shot groups fired. Nonetheless, the skill required to consistently shoot decent groups is not to be discounted. GD

It appears in the photo that he is using Burris Signature Zee rings. Who da thunk?

Serious question, I've never done any extreme long range shooting of either type. John Sure, as dogcatcher mentioned, it's possible to design a fine SFP reticle that is usable at intermediate magnification settings, but is very fine (in terms of angular subtension) and therefore ideal at maximum magnification. For an FFP reticle to be as fine on the high end of the magnification range, it would be difficult to see at all on low magnification.

Its always interesting to see the equipment list of these shooters. I've always liked those Signature Zee rings...
