My boy is going into high school this Fall and decided he wants to join the Trap Shooting Team. He has begun practicing with them and is currently using my 870 pump. I’ve decided to begin the search for a nice trap gun for him. Like to find him a semi-auto 12 Beretta with the Kick Off recoil system in a like new condition. Thought I’d ask here as well. Maybe someone here has one sitting in the safe not being used and would like to see it busting some clay targets in my boys hands? If you have something you’d maybe consider letting go of please send me a message and we can discuss it further. Thanks!

The gas operated Beretta's are pretty tame in the recoil department. Of much larger concern than recoil is gun fit. If your son is to be competitive the gun must fit perfectly which is tough to do unless your shotgun has adjustable buttstock and comb. Consider trading the kickoff system for a Gracoil system - in addition to taming recoil it will give you a great deal of buttstock adjustment. Also, a longer sight plane than you will find on many sporter shotguns will be helpful in trap ... think 30" +. If you have some $ to invest, consider an A400 setup for trap.

I have a Beretta A390 with 20K + trap loads through it which is still going strong and am a fan of Beretta's.
