About 15 years ago, I got introduced to Screamin' Coonass Hot Sauce. At the time, I liked its Cajun zing. I was thinking about it today, and found out nobody is carrying it anymore-- Coonass is no longer an acceptable term.

I did find some rather interesting varieties of Hot Sauce that I thought I'd share.

I absolutely love hot sauces, but only if they taste good. I don’t care for heat simply for heat’s sake. But a lotta heat with a lotta good flavor, bring it...!

Too much heat is no good for me....that's why I like sriracha sauce or Louisiana hot sauce.

Perfect.

Shaman,

If you haven't been to Jungle Jims International Market, I highly recommend it. Two greater Cinci locations. Just he hot sauce room in the Eastgate location might be enough on it's own to make it worth a trip.

Been there. Done that. The Fairfield location is right up the road. I've had to cut back. My current interest was for a gift. About as far as I'll take the old sphicter is:

Gene Porter is dead now and Dixie's bbq has closed but meeting "the man" was an experience. I watched my brothers step-son Eric get goaded by Gene Porter with "wanna meet the man?" and then Eric said "you can put some more on", Gene smiled and added another spoonful. I thought the kid was going to die.

I'm the same. If it's so hot that you can't taste anything, why bother? Might as well just spread the sauce on bread.

For lots of guys, it's just bragging rights as to who can eat the hottest food.

I keep recommending AZ Gunslinger, and those who have tried it agree that it is simply the best-tasting not overly hot condiment extant. Just order yourself a bottle or three and you'll agree. LINK

I have long loved the original sun-ripened Jalapeno variety, but am about to order some of the Chipotle Habanero or perhaps the Cherry Chipotle - or the Key Lime - or...Damn! they're ALL so good.

Huge Latino population.

Pickapeppa isn't even hot.

I don't care for them super hot either. Basic Louisiana Hot Sauce is a good level for general use.

I don't want anything to do with one claiming "liquid rage" as an ingredient.

My favorite store bought hot sauce is Tabasco. I go through a 12 ounce bottle every week. I love the stuff. Good heat with great flavor. I woulda put it on the mother of my children if she woulda let me.
My favorite store bought salsa is 505 Southwestern Brand. I like their green chile salsa, the hotter the better. Again, good heat with great flavor.
