Well, that is something you don't see every day.

Lucky he didn't whack some swimmers.
I did the same thing once in my ultralight. I had to put it down in Lake Sinclair. Ran out of gas at 1,000 feet, I just followed the shoreline, I kept my right wing tip about 30 feet from the shore line, and splashed it down in 3 feet of water.

Ran out of gas? My instructor said he would beat me to a pulp if he ever heard that I had created an emergency.

Shame to loose a nice plane in shallow water. Caught a lot of grouper off a crashed DC 3 due east of Cocoa in 620' of water.

The only time you can have too much gas in an aircraft is when you’re on fire...😳

Thank God nobody got hurt or killed. Didn't say what the mechanical issue was and it looked like the plane survived pretty intact. Pilot did a good job of bringing it down but he's lucky there were no swimmers in his path. Interesting video.

Is the plane retrievable in its current resting place?

its 73 degrees there already. must be nice. Been 80's here for a while. Hit 91 a couple times. Looked like the pilot did a good job of setting her down.

One plane from Flight 19 finally made it back. What a shame. I'm glad the pilot is okay, but what a bummer. I'm guessing you can count on one hand how many Avengers are left flying.

Is the plane retrievable in its current resting place? I'd expect owner is required to remove it. And old warplanes have been recovered from a lot worse places.

Rather imagine it will be recovered. Heavy vehicles can drive on those beaches at low tide.

Hopefully someone had enough presence of mind to draft some of the many swimmers there to at least ground the aircraft before it sank.
The beach appears to slope pretty well where he sat her down.
