Wow! Pretty Christmas card scene .
Isn't that where Jeremiah Johnson was filmed? I think most of those are filmed in the Valley. Mob owns most of the action. Oh yeah, they sure did and do.... I got curious and see that it was filmed in a lot of locations, especially in Utah. "Utah The enchanting aesthetic of the movie is credited to the vast expanse of Utah, where the movie was shot. The movie covers almost 100 locations, including Robert Redford’s backyard in Sundance, the Alpine Loop in Provo, and American Fork canyons. At that time, Redford owned properties in Utah spanning over 600 acres, which assisted in the production of the movie. Many scenes were shot on the backside of Mount Timpanogos near Redford’s personal property named Sundance, situated at State Highway 92, Sundance. Redford was captivated by the Timp Haven ski resort there, which is why he bought it and changed its name to Sundance, after his character in ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.’ He and director Sydney Pollack fought against studio executives who were initially not supporting their idea of extensive filming. As expected, the crew faced several problems during production. Pollack said that the snows of St. George in southern Utah were terrible, and they had to use Cinemobiles as lifelines. Beaten down by the weather and heavy budget, the crew had to make do with first takes. Other scenes were filmed in significant reserves of nature, such as the Zion National Park, Ashley National Forest, Wasatch-Cache National Forest, and Uinta National Forest situated in the southwestern, northeastern, northern, and north-central parts of Utah, respectively. Other locations in Utah include Leeds and St. George. The Snow Canyon State Park, located at 1002 Snow Canyon Drive, near St. George, also makes an appearance. Arizona The movie was partially filmed in Arizona. The production team made good use of its weather and geography, two things that the state is majorly known for. A few scenes were filmed at the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, which is sprawled over more than 280,000 acres. It touches the Utah-Arizona border. Other locations include Kayenta and the Tsegi Canyon situated in Navajo County; Mexican Water, a community located in Apache County; and Paiute Wilderness, which dominates the northwestern portion of Arizona."

How long have you lived in Montana? I've seen 8" in Whitefish in early June, 26" near Eureka (up Grave creek) on August 20, and, commonly, mountain snowstorms on July 4. OP is right, newcomers need to be prepared.

According to NOAA it's 14F in Dogtown.
18F at my house this morning.
Chance of snow later today.
Few years ago it was -10F in mid April, we had a few frozen ears over that blast.

I've lived in ND all my life. Snowed 3 days in the last week. I remember having a "storm day" off school when I was in elementary school on Apr. 27th one year, I only remember because it's my sister's birthday.

April is typically one of the snowiest months here in Colo., Just had 7" Thursday into Friday and have another 4"-8" coming tonight. Just another day and we need the moisture, so no complaints here.

April 14th 2000 Kalispell, Montana. By the morning of the 15th, a Saturday we'd accumulated 30 inches of fresh spring snow in the valley. The county had already pulled all the plows off the dumps they use to plow snow. The valley was at a standstill, good thing it was a weekend. Front page of the Daily Interlake read "Surprise, Its a Blizzard".

Thankfully we had about 6" of heavy wet stuff last weekend. We were looking at below normal soil moisture levels and Lake Winnipeg is very, very low. We needed it.

Red Lodge added a bonus weekend skiiing because of it. I cleared over 5" of heavy wet settled snow off the girls' outfits this morning. Started with rain last night so I am not sure yet how much moisture we ended up getting. Not enough, but it is a start. I lived in this state for about 3 years and saw it snow in every month of the year. Not necessarily in the mountains either.

I believe we are sitting at about 7" right now and a bit more to come here near Buffalo WY. We need it! The snow chart shows 50"-75" depth in the Bighorns.

So anybody thinking of moving to Montana, to get away from it all.... well be prepared for arctic hell.... this pic is 4/18/21 yep today....... Send some of that schitt our way. It might drive some of the pussies out of the Boise Valley. A bunch of them were crying a few years ago over four feet of snow in the valley. But hell, it never got below fifteen degrees. I would like to see some decent snow with minus thirty for about thirty days. That'l send the light weights scrambling back to Cali again.

Yesterday over in the northern end of the Valley, 85F 72 or so here when we got home. Freezing this morning. Now, last year, a bit different. Taken 0813 on 8June2020, after the sun was up and started melting the overnight snowfall. Almost tropical California. Possible snow in the forecast later this week. And we need it.................but it seems it's only a 30% chance of anything falling,

Nothing like 30-40 mph winds and heavy wet snow in April. The only good part is I’m not shoveling this chit, I’ll let it melt. But it was flat nasty last night. I hope it scared away some California transplants

This was a nothingburger of a winter, far as I'm concerned. Put the plow on the truck, maybe used it a whole hour in late Feb. We have a 298 Cat, only needed to push off the shop yard aprons to the highway three times, a total of maybe another 90 minutes.
But yeah, yesterday was kind of icky poo. But this year, I bet it snows in July. On the Fourth.

12F last night on my way to check on calving.
But I think we are now done with temps that low for this spring.
Gonna get brave and fire up the underground sprinklers and start the lawn show.
Beyond dry, scary dry for this time of year.
Fire whistle blew three times today.

SE WIs. had snow all day but didnt stick much. A 50 car pile up by my house cause people still dont know how to drive . It was a whiteout and a semi jacknifed in the middle of the US highway. One dead for sure, many hurt.
