Appeals will be his friend. MN Supreme Court won't overturn that verdict for all the tea in China. This was a foregone outcome ever since they started burning the cities last year.

Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty Tuesday in the killing of George Floyd.
After less than 12 hours of deliberations, the jury returned its verdict against Chauvin, convicting him on all three counts: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Watch the entire video sequence of the initial stop, request for ID, refusal, argument, reaching down inside the car along his door, his arrest, his continued resist of arrest, dropping white packets behind him as he is moved forward (out of sight of the controlling officer), his finally being fought into the back seat of a patrol vehicle FROM WHICH HE ESCAPED! At that point he was an escapee in addition to everything else. The guy was crazy on fentanyl and meth. A junkie trying to fight his way out of another trip to prison. He screamed, fought, screamed, fought, escaped. Leg shackles chained to handcuffs would have been appropriate or a few blasts of a billy stick. But that’s cruel nowadays. So the cop put a knee on him and kept it there. No more escape. Remember the prosecution witness that denied several times pictures of the event DID NOT show a knee on the NECK, but on the shoulder? An expert for the defense. He's the perfect poster boy for black people getting picked on. But here's the ugly truth on what the objective is here, and this is very important imo. They are setting a baseline standard by which all black people are to be legally processed. This guy is the complete opposite of the poster boy, innocent, misunderstood black man, being prosecuted. He's a multiple offender of multiple crimes, generally scumbag of a human being, and drug addict. If they can get the system to submit to his case as a precedent, ANY BLACK MAN can get mob justice.

I'm a reserve deputy. Not a full time pro, but I attended nearly 100 hours of classroom training plus at least that many more in reading assignments and/or online resources that I needed to become a sworn peace officer.
To the point: we were trained to NEVER apply perpendicular pressure along the neck and spine when holding a detainee on the ground. We were trained to ALWAYS apply the full shin lengthwise down the back, next to the spine. Further, we were taught to only apply enough weight or force to hold the detainee, and then only until restraints could be applied. To do otherwise would run the risk of injuring, or killing, the detainee.
I'm not surprised at all by this verdict. I am also not disappointed. I believe it is incumbent upon LEO to stand up and denounce unacceptable practices when they see it.
Notice I'm not stating that George Floyd was an upstanding citizen. Far from it. What's being lost in so much of the discussion about his death is the fact that, once detained, his safety is the responsibility of the LEO and agency that has detained him no matter how egregious his conduct or past record.

I don't know much about the law, but how can he be guilty of ALL THREE counts? Isn't third degree murder different than second degree manslaughter and second degree unintentional murder?
