Not the norm. I almost always get responses. If I don't, then I'm not buying. When I respond to potential buyers I give them my phone number. There isn't much gunbroker can do if you get scammed. The whole thing really runs on the honor system. Gotta have clear communication.

I have checked my spam folder. Nothing there. I have asked a merchant if a Henry Big Boy Steel 327 Federal they are advertising is actually in store and if they look at the gun before shipment. I don't want to do a back order deal, and I'd like to know that it's intact. Two tries and no response.

I usually use “ask the seller a question” and almost always (95%) get an answer.

My experience has been more of a delayed response (3-4 days). Or no reply at all.

I got a very nice reply. Yes they actually have it in the store, and yes they give them a once over before they ship them out. They'll have an incoming order shortly.

Just last week one night I was snooping and found a seller who had two of the tip-up Beretta handguns I've been interested in. They had feedback of A+1. The guns were too cheap to be true, Buy it now for $275, and they stated they were selling their fathers' guns. The catch was the only form of payment they had listed was Paypal. I sent an e-mail telling them I was interested and the it was against Paypal user agreement to buy or sell firearms and that I would not take the chance. I asked if they would accept a Postal money order. I never got a response but the next morning they had changed the user name, although the feedback remained the same and the price went up $100. Something fishy so I steered clear. No response from a legitimate question usually tips me to potential fraud.
