He's right. 2-4-D will retard new grass growth. If you reseed, to avoid any residual they recommend waiting a month after spraying before you reseed and about 6 weeks after seeding, or at least 2 mowings.

And you as well.

It's OK if you wear a mask.........

Limited exposure and being careful is the key.

I'll spray some fence lines and such on my ranch, but I'm sure not spraying for anyone else again. Last 3 years I did, I was sick after. Last year my lymph nodes swelled up to the point it hurt to swallow anything.

Not taking that chance again.

It gets on your skin, etc. It's not just wearing a mask.

I’m not sure you understand what Grazon could do to any trees he may have around that lawn he’s trying to plant.

Most of us have an extenuation agent that gets paid to provide that sort of information.

Have you guys ever read the label on 2-4-D? There's a difference between grass and NEWLY SEEDED grass.

I intend to plant grass seed asap. But do not have trees. Im ok with killing everything off and restarting the yard.

If you're okay with killing it all and starting over, then Roundup is probably your best, and cheapest bet. If you're wanting to save grass, then don't spray Roundup. I've used 2-4-D on pastures and lawns for many years. Be aware that it will drift, and can damage things that you didn't intend to spray. I use it on pastures every year, and it does not damage established grass, Used at a low rate, it controls the weeds I need to spray.

You don't just blindly spray any chemical. You read and follow the label instructions, and each case will be somewhat different. If you're wanting to start a yard all over, fall is the time of the year for doing that, at least in my part of the country. Spray and kill everything in late summer, work the ground up and reseed in early fall, in time for the seeds to get established before cold weather.

When I went to college, there were still vestiges of the 1960's Hippie culture. One was a chain link fence on Ohio Avenue in front of a little house where the Morning Glory cult lived. They worshipped Morning Glories, and used to harvest the seeds off the vines growing on the fence. Supposedly they gave you quite a high if you ingested enough of them. I went over to Ohio after I moved out the 'burbs and got some seeds off the fence to plant at our new house. They've been thriving for decades on my fence.

This was about half a block down from the house where the Mushroom devotees lived. I had friends who rented that house; there was still bits and pieces of a mushroom farm in the basement.

There have been several formulations/labels for Grazon. I’ve seen Grazon Next in the hands of an ill informed applicator, absolutely hammer trees on a somewhat grand scale.

I’ve curled up several myself when I didn’t account for its movement in the soil and it got into the root zone.

I’m rather careful where I apply it and always have been as the warning about it on the label is there for a reason.

Doesn’t work very well on Morning Glory either.

Thanks. I found 2 4 D but it was low concentrate? I ended up getting glyphosate 53.8% from TSC. I hope this kills it. Does anyone know how quick I can reseed after using? Any other tips for using it? Thanks again all.

No residue with glyphosate, seed/plant anytime you like.
