Armed robbery, high-speed chase leads to charges for metro-area teen
NEWS | 11 hours ago By Henri Hollis, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution A teenager from Austell and a man from Virginia were both arrested Saturday and face multiple charges related to an armed robbery and multi-county car chase that ended with a fiery crash.
Jahsheniqe Celie Letang, 18, was arrested in Houston County along with 22-year-old Da’Von Nigel Cumberbatch, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, after the pair crashed on I-75 South, officials said. The two were checked out by medical personnel at the scene and taken to the Houston County Jail, according to Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Franka Young.
The incident began with an armed robbery at an AT&T store in Covington, police spokesman Captain Ken Malcom confirmed in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Covington police responded to the call around 9:30 a.m. at the store on Ga. 142.
According to the initial investigation, the suspects were wearing hoodies and facemasks and carrying tasers. They took dozens of cell phones, an iPad and several other office items before leaving the store on foot.
Covington police were able to identify the suspects’ car as a white Hyundai SUV and send an alert to other law enforcement agencies. Around 11 a.m., a GSP trooper spotted the SUV on I-75 South in Houston and attempted a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the SUV sped away and the trooper followed in pursuit.
After a “brief pursuit” which reached speeds up to 125 mph, the trooper performed a PIT maneuver, crashing the car and ending the chase, Young said. Letang and Cumberbatch were taken into custody, but their SUV caught on fire and was heavily damaged, Young said.
Letang was released from jail on bond Monday, while Cumberbatch remains in jail without bond. Cumberbatch is charged with 13 counts related to the highway chase in Houston, including a felony count of fleeing from police.
Both Letang and Cumberbatch face additional charges out of Newton related to the robbery. Cumberbatch was wanted for a traffic violation in Newton in addition to the robbery charges, Malcom confirmed.

What are the odds? Yeah..I just LOVE these names they make up at the hospital as if they didnt really expect a baby to be born. Their phonics, ebonics, and ability to spell lets you know who made the names up right away. I'm even aware of one named Lemongelo....but spelled :Lemon Jello....seriously.

My favorite (but there are many) was the running back from FLA State named "Amphony" Jones (gee, I wonder why spell check underlines "Amphony" in red? )

Dang LDS missionaries from Idaho again. I wish they'd stay at home..... You're mistaken - these kids are clearly Amish youth running loose on rumspringa. Letang and Cumberbatch are the most common Amish names, right after Miller and Yoder.

One of them was released on bond. Would not be surprised if all the charges are dropped. When they drop charges against left wing rioters and arsonists do the arrest records still exist?

Parent at wife's school were she taught registered new student for kindergarten. Sh*thead was written as the child’s first. Registrar asked how to pronounce the little girl's name. Mother replied "Shi-theed!." When asked if that was a family name passed down, Mom said it was just something she read in a book and liked it. You can’t make this stuff up! Hasbeen

Back in the 1980's, there were twins in the ATL are Named Lemongello and Orangegello. Le -Mon-ja-Lo and Or-Ron-Ja-Lo. My best friend taught them in elementary school. Told this story in the late 1990s at dinner with my buddies, one my gunsmith and the other a DeKalb Co Sheriff. My gunsmith buddy called BS on me and immediately my sheriff buddy tells him "It's true. We've had them in Juvi lock up several times". So not urban legend for sure. Other winner was She-they'd spelled s h i t h e a d . No joke. How embarrassing.

But they're such good kids, they were turning their lives around don't you know!
I hope this doesn't affect their Honor Roll status.
