Pipeline will pay the ransom, then be given a code matrix to get them back into their own network. The pipeline will then have to pay several million dollars to have their network scrubbed, and new security protection placed by a reputable cyber security organization.
The FEDS will track the operation and identify it as Russian...Nothing will happen as a consequence, at least what we as civilians will notice.
Seen this happen before in 2020 with another corporation.

Ever see/hear a high flow/pressure line slam shut?
The line from a gas trailer to underground tank is 5" and weighs around 150# full. If you attempt to overfill the tank and the flaps slam shut, that hose jumps off the ground. If the handle slips out of your hand as you open or close the valve, the noise will scare the chit out of anyone nearby.
This is only a 5" line, running on gravity. (Around 200gl/min) The entire hose length of fuel (weight) has momentum.
Imagine the momentum of a 30" pipeline under pressure. High flow, and a couple hundred yards between turns.
