I read an article in the Varmint Hunter magazine 30 years or so ago that went something like this, "if you are going to A.I. a 243, why not just go to a 6mm Rem. If you are going to A.I. a 6mm Rem, why not go to a 6mmx284"
I have no experience with a 6mm A.I. or a 6x284 but I do have a 243 A.I. and if I had to do it all over again, would most likely just do a 6mm Rem.
Don't get me wrong, my 243AI shoots great but at some point, forming brass gets old.

I have both a 6mmRemAI and a 6x284, you give up about 100fps with the 6mmRemAI but easily double barrel life and I just fire formed all my brass in my old barrel so I can go to full power loads with the new barrel. think I'm done with the 6x284
