So....what would make a good stabby cutty slashy knife be?
Got to thinking the other day....my Old Timers and Leathermans wouldn't be much good in a real stabby type situation.
Guess I am worried about my hand slipping forward.
Anyone recommend a good stabby slashy knife?

Anyone recommend a good stabby slashy knife? Yeah, find a pattern you like, and some old files or plow shares and I'll make you one. All it'll cost you is a beeve.

I have an Infidel for that purpose. Couldn't tell you how it works because I've not stabby slashied anyone with it yet...

My neighbor could make you one...unfortunately it'd cost you at least $8 grand.

A good buck knife, or one of cold steel products.

I carry one of those light weight Buck 110s. Any knife will slide in your hand once things get bloody. You have to be deliberate with a knife for them to work well. keep them plenty sharp and use your little finger under the back of it to keep it from sliding back in your hand.

Tough to beat a KA-BAR USMC combat knife for the money. In a folder the Ontario Rat-1 in D-2 is a gem at the price.

Hah! That movie was hilarious!
I'd find something double edged, pointy, with double guards. 5ish inches.

My EDC is a Benchmade Barrage. Took a set of needle files and cut much deeper serrations in the front third of the scales to make it easier to hold on to. Also additional deeper serrations near the pocket clip to make thumb and forefinger extraction more secure. Fortunately, have only had to use it for general utility.
My first Benchmade was a Mini Barage (154CM) which I EDC'ed for several years. Worked fine for utility purposes. LGS dropped a full size Barrage (S30V) into the case one day. Love at first sight. It came home with me. Just gave the Mini Barrage to a grand daughter a couple nights ago for her first knife.

Put fluorescent pink duck tape on it, so it can be found where you drop it next to the elk you are gutting. https://smile.amazon.com/Spyderco-Ladybug-Lightweight-Plainedge-Folding/dp/B0017UVI94
